Unofficial competitions.
[edit]The Latin Cup, Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and Campeonato de Lisboa aren't official competitions and therefore should be deleted from the list. Plus, the Campeonato de Portugal and the Taça de Portugal should be separated.
- The Latin Cup is a an official competition, it doesn't have to be organized by UEFA to be official, UEFA is just an group of federations united. If FPF and RFEF wanted to create an Iberian Supercup, they could, between clubs, not between national squads, that, only UEFA can do. It's wrrong to claim that a multi country tournament is only official when is organized by UEFA.
- See other sports, in basketball, the VTB United League, ABA League and others multi country profissional leagues, arent' organized by FIBA Europe, the UEFA equivalent, yet the competitions are profissional and official, because they are for clubs to play, and in some cases, they play the domestic league, the multi country league and in FIBA Europe competitions. Another examples, Commonwealth Games, Jeux de la Francophonie, Lusophony Games, they are multi sports competitions not organized by the International Olympic Committee, the entity entitled to organized multi sports competitions, like the Olympic Games, and they are official, they just can't claim to be olympic champion, but just commonwealth game champion. To simplfy, federations can create competitions for clubs, but not for national teams, that only UEFA or a COMNBOL can. That's why the Algarve Cup for women's is just a friendly tournament, organized by the FPF, and not UEFA.
- The Campeonato de Lisboa I won't bother much, an Regional Federation tournament organized by the the local FA is always official, even if was in the time of amauter clubs. In fact, the Lisbon FA championship predated the Portuguese Federation. It doesn't have to be a national tournament or for profissional players to be official, otherwise thoushounds of amauter footballers were only playing friendlies every weekend, and how could a club progress to the national championship's without an official tournament below to determine the champion of the respective regional federation? Coin toss?. Campeonato Paulista is an example of a regional tournament still played today, and is still official, and not organized by the brazilian Federation. Hope I helped.Threeohsix (talk) 09:21, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- So why is it written on the other Wikipedia pages that Benfica has 72 titles instead of having more (2+1+33+3+25+5+4+10=83)? And what about the other international competitions in which Benfica participated, like the Iberian Cup, etc.? Why aren't they mentioned? In the official site, they refer even more titles won. Why aren't they mentioned here? And what about not separating the Campeonato de Portugal from the Taça de Portugal?
- The other articles are probably incorrect. I have more doubts about the Iberian Cup because some editions were not organized by the Federations, and there is little information in the internet about it. The website mentions friendlies too, which is wrong because it leads to this doubts. There is no separation, the Campeonato de Portugal was one thing before the Primeira Divisão being created, and another after. First it a national championship to determine which regional champion was the Portuguese Champion, then was just a cup competition, without being exclusive to regional champions. In the articles I've seen, there is a separation.--Threeohsix (talk) 15:44, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- LOL Every Wikipedia page has a different version! According to here (http://www.slbenfica.pt/Futebol/palmares.aspx) Benfica won more competitions then these. And it is the official site!
True Benfica's titles.

Top-scorer(s)
[edit]Since this page refers to S.L. Benfica seasons, I think the column "Top-scorer(s)" should list the overall top-scorer, instead of the players with the most goals in the regional championship/Primeira Liga. Besteirense (talk) 15:31, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
- That is much harder to source. A new column could be added for that. SLBedit (talk) 20:25, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
