Title translations and critical respect and awards won

[edit]

This article contains translations of the titles, but it's not clear whether they are the actual titles of the films in English or just translations by a wikipedia contributor. For example the topmost one is called "Apartment Wife: Affair In the Afternoon" but this alternative title doesn't appear in the IMDB. Similarly other titles only appear on Google at Wikipedia or mirror sites. If these are translations by Wikipedia editors, rather than released under that title, shouldn't they be marked as such? I believe that arbitrarily translating film titles into English and then using those titles would count as original research, or even worse a violation of the film owner's right to name their film in English.

Also, the unreferenced statement at the top of the article about "critically respected" seems a little bold. I am not any kind of expert on this topic, but the few Roman Porno actresses I know of had very limited acting skills and vanished from the screen once their career in Roman Porno was over. The article needs some references to all this critical respect and award winning. JoshuSasori (talk) 07:05, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I seriously doubt any award or critic (or any source for that matter) which recognized these pr0n films would be up to snuff. I have never heard of these titles either, Joshua. This entire list looks like Fancruft. Can it be deleted? This is the kind of stuff which earns disrespect for Wikipedia. Horace Higginbotham (talk) 19:45, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed all of the dubious statements from the top of the article. I guess the English titles can stay for the time being, until someone wants to do all the work of checking them. JoshuSasori (talk) 09:01, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is good. However I am concerned that some later editor may see claims of awards and critical recognition indicated in the "Notes" section of the list and then add something similar back into the lede. This might postpone the deletion of this list of pr0n videos, which would be a shame. Perhaps removal of the "Notes" section would help? Thanks for your comment Horace Higginbotham. Are we really sure that the series as a whole is critically respected? Is there any need to delete the list even if the films aren't critically respected? Also, which of the films in particular is critically respected, and who are the critics? I checked a few titles but found that the notes didn't show this information clearly. JoshuSasori (talk) 00:52, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If the critical recognition is not adequately cited, it should be removed. Likewise dubious sourcing. As I stated above, I doubt any award, critical praise or sourcing is to be found anywhere in this interminable list of pr0n videos. I don't know what audience this list could possibly play to other than elderly Oriental onanists, and this is not the kind of reader Wikipedia wants to attract. For one thing, mastubatory memories dredged up by the ancient pro0n on this list could prove fatally over-stimulating to some poor old geezer. If you are squeamish about deleting this yourself, de-sourcing and removal of puffed-up notability claims is a step in the right direction. I do not want to delete it either, any more than I want to have a sick old dog put to sleep. But painful removals such as this are necessary the future good of Wikipedia. Horace Higginbotham, there is nothing to stop you from proposing the article for deletion. --JoshuSasori (talk) 10:09, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No rush. Horace Higginbotham (talk) 20:57, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
