Brand Extension
[edit]Does anybody have any ideas how to alter this page to reflect the brand extension. The two obvious ideas seem to be to mark each wrestler as whether they're WRESTLELAND, LOCK UP or neither or to follow the WWE roster and have a different section for New Japan, WRESTLELAND and LOCK UP. These both have their downsides though. The first idea may get confusing when it comes to outside talent who only work on the two brands, the second idea is going to produce some repetition since many workers will be listed twice on the page. Any better ideas? --Kiltman67 01:20, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Have you ever thought about making a list of stables like u have for other rosters? Maybe others would like to know who the teams are. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.77.19.20 (talk) 20:23, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
This sort of idea could be used in the future, to signify who’s in which unit. ItChEE40 (talk) 04:36, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
Native and Outside?
[edit]I don't get this distinction in the list - first I thought it was Japanese/Non-Japanese wrestlers but then I saw Marufuji and El Samurai on the "Outside" list and I'm confused. What's the criteria for inclusion in each category?? MPJ -DK 06:51, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Chris Jericho
[edit]Shouldn't Chris Jericho have Signed With WWE in his notes on this List of New Japan Pro-Wrestling personnel page? The Tokyo Sports newspaper did say he is still signed with WWE (hence why Jericho is also listed on the List of WWE Personnel as well) by mentioning that an anonymous NJPW official said that Jericho is still under contract with WWE, and that WWE chairman Vince McMahon had given him permission to wrestle in NJPW. Seeing as Jericho is the only current employed WWE wrestler (seeing his name is on WWE's Superstars page for Current Wrestlers) that is on both the NJPW roster and the WWE roster it really should be noted on both the List of WWE personnel page and on the List of New Japan Pro-Wrestling personnel page. - 2A02:C7D:CC6:4400:B1DC:347:5C78:46F6 (talk) 10:51, 11 February 2018 (UTC)

“Freelancers”
[edit]Besides the obvious freelancers in foreign wrestlers like Chase Owens and Chuckie T, it can be hard to tell if a wrestler with a predominate role is not under contract. For example, what makes Shingo Takagi a freelancer when Taiji Ishimori was also signed off the free agent market and put right into a faction? For this page, I think sources or a better understanding would increase the legitimacy of this page. ItChEE40 (talk) 15:37, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
“Unit” Column
[edit]As discussed earlier by another user, signifying which unit (faction) a wrestler is in would help some readers, and make understanding easier for a casual audience. This shouldn’t have to break the page into different sections, so I propose a new column in the Heavyweight and Junior Heavyweight lists to detail which unit a wrestler is listed as being apart of (as of NJPW’s website, there can be disputes).
It could look like:
Ring Name | Real Name | Unit | Notes
UPDATED:
Ring name | Real name | UNIT | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Tanga Loa | Tevita Fifita | Bullet Club | NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion |
Tetsuya Naito | Tetsuya Naito | Los Ingobernables de Japon | IWGP Intercontinental Champion |
Toa Henare | Aaron Henry | Main unit | |
Togi Makabe | Shinya Makabe | Great Bash Heel |
lol I might as well just do it, this page isn't cared for by any of the higher ups anyway...

- Mmm, maybe you should post in the project talk page, since it would be a change for a lot of rosters. I remember the project deleted the units/tag teams since the roster is kayfabe free, I think they didn't see a kayfabe tag team as important. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 15:56, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
- Good point. I'd say that for the most part New Japan stables are pretty important as it's not only who they team with, but who they travel with as well. It's usually one of the first things noted when introducing a wrestler by New Japan on screen and their website. It's almost like their brands, similair to how the WWE page lists their brand as well. Name Capitalisation
[edit]I have noticed that wrestlers such as BUSHI, EVIL, SHO and TAKA Michinoku haven't had their names capitalised as per their NJPW ring names. Is this a general rule we follow? Or would it be appropriate to keep it the way it is?
P.S. NJPW have used lowercase letters in English-styled names before, Cody was simply spelt as 'Cody'. ItChEE40 (talk) 02:53, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
Weight division separation
[edit]NJPW doesn't seem to publish strict rosters for Heavyweight and Junior Heavyweight, aside from the actual champions and challengers. A lot of the wrestlers assigned in the article seem to be guess work. I'm think maybe the roster page shouldn't be sub-divided into Heavyweight/Junior Heavyweight and any distinctions kept to the unit/note column. Thoughts?
- Considering the importance of it to NJPW, I think the separation is fine. They are literally booked separately and whenever someone moves up or down it is reported, such as when Shingo recently moved up. StaticVapor message me! 19:51, 25 October 2019 (UTC)
Manabu Nakanishi Retirement
[edit]On February 22nd, Manabu Nakanishi officially retired. Shouldn't he be removed from the heavyweight roster? --Seabass715 (talk) 23:58, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Seabass715
please update
[edit]why are ROH wrestlers like the Briscoes still on the roster, even though they haven't wrestled for the company in years? 2601:346:C201:60C0:E48F:F15A:31FA:46B3 (talk) 21:57, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
Red Shoes Unno
[edit]Hello, there seems to be a something wierd, as in, when I click on Red Shoes Unno, it redirects me to Shota Umino. Are you absolutely sure they are the same person? 117.243.171.60 (talk) 08:50, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
