Rex Grossman has 4 games started, 2 wins, 2 losses ... and this counts him as 0% win percent??? This doesn't seem right at all. 97.92.177.104 (talk) 14:04, 20 January 2009 (UTC) OK. I'm a dummy. I thought this page was generated mathematically and there was just some weird error... it was just someone's bad math. Sorry! 97.92.177.104 (talk) 14:07, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ordering?

[edit]

Would it make more sense to order this list by total wins, or total games, rather than alphabetically? --Legis (talk - contribs) 12:27, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Would it really matter since it's sortable by all columns? If you came to the page looking for a specific player's record, that probably means you don't know how many wins or total games he has, so it'd be harder to find them that way than it'd be to look them up alphabetically. --Smk42 (talk) 18:30, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

crosses and asterisks

[edit]

Ok, when looking at the teams played for there are a number of players who have crosses by their team (aka Peyton Manning and the Colts.) Now according to the key the cross means Hall of Fame. Peyton is not in the Hall of Fame, now when he goes, he'll probably go as a Colt, but he's not there yet. So what does the cross mean? similarly, there are a number of people who have one or two askerisks by their team what does that mean? And what's the Celtic Cross by Bartt Starr's name? The table is very confusing because it has character's that are not readily defined.2601:E:2600:A520:F99B:7D3F:A4BE:E413 (talk) 07:05, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You are right, the cross is used twice and that has been changed. If you look at the color headings before the main table you will see what each color means and the symbol used with that color.Spparky (talk) 01:10, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

1966-1969 NFL and AFL Championships

[edit]

In the rest of Wikipedia football articles, NFL and AFL Championships from 1966-1969 are not considered to be "championships," yet they are in this article. Should that be changed to have consistency? I don't think anyone really considers the 1969 Minnesota Vikings as having won a championship, for instance. Also, Unitas' 1968 NFL Championship is not included in this article, so I corrected that.50.136.139.204 (talk) 08:19, 8 February 2016 (UTC)50.136.139.204 (talk) 08:12, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I just looked it up, and Unitas didn't play in the 1968 NFL Championship Game, so I stand corrected. I reverted.50.136.139.204 (talk) 09:30, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article says "Super Bowls before the 1970 AFL–NFL merger are not included in total championship count." and yet the first person in the table has his '66 and '67 Superbowls counted in total championship count.
I personally don't think people who are coming to this article are looking for a pre-superbowl list of players and of the top 9 players in the table, 5 of them played their entire career before the superbowl era. It's also incredibly confusing based on the preceding disclaimer about championship counts.
Either change how the article explains championship counts or make a separate table just for pre-superbowl era QBs. I wish I knew how to do either of those but I do not.98.204.69.245 (talk) 15:16, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is this really notable enough to have an article?

[edit]

I propose deletion.

Per WP:NOT:

  • Wikipedia does not aim to contain all data or expression found elsewhere
  • A Wikipedia article should not be a complete exposition of all possible details, but a summary of accepted knowledge regarding its subject
  • To provide encyclopedic value, data should be put in context with explanations referenced to independent sources [...] merely being true, or even verifiable, does not automatically make something suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia.

I see that someone made an attempt to put the page in context, but a brief history of the NFL playoffs does not cut it. What is the intended point of this article? It's nothing more than a data dump.

Some of the information might be merged into the Quarterback article, or into the pages of individual QBs, but it's almost certainly already listed there if it's at all relevant.

Furthermore (and this in itself isn't a reason to delete the page, as it's not a wiki policy, but I'm adding it for perspective), for NFL fans, a quarterback's W-L record is pointless and dangerously misleading, at best. Here is a good source to explain why this stat is pointless: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2014/how-should-we-judge-quarterbacks-postseason
