1.Most names are unsourced.
2.Some names are obviously from the Maratha community (Shivaji, Sharad Pawar, etc. ) but many last names like Desai, Sawant, and even Patil are common with other communities(Patil is also found in Deshasthas - very rare though - and in Lingayats).
3. Many persons are living and unless they self-identify, it is a violation on wikipedia policy.

I cleaned up a few names that are common to other castes and people just added them based on last names they were familiar with. But I think at least 70% of the names on this page are not sourced or violate wikipedia policy of self-identifying. Needs major work...Acharya63 (talk) 08:42, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Instead of "List of Maratha people" it should probably be called "List of people from the Maratha caste" because sometimes the word Maratha is used to
