Triples
[edit]- How come nobody ever talks about the "triples" records in the list of "unbreakable" baseball records. Noone's ever going to match the records of 309 in a career or 36 in a season. You can talk all you want about DiMaggio's 56-game hit streak or Ryan's 5700+ strikeouts, but the triples records will NEVER NEVER EVER be broken.
- That's probably true, but all the records are from a very different era in baseball. If you notice, almost all of the triples records were set before 1900. Plus, even pre-1900 triples were fairly rare occurrences, even more today. As a result, triples records don't garner the following that more common occurrences like strikeouts or hits receive (though personally, I'm a big fan of the triple). I am hoping Granderson can bring some love back for the triple though. benwildeboer D(talk - contribs) 18:34, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- I quite agree ..... triples hitter never seem to get the respect. I was just thinking the other day that these records are going to stand forever unless there is a major change in the way the game is played. While an article on "records that will never be broken" is purely speculative, it might be interesting to start an article that shows how long particular records have stood as a more statistical measure as to how difficult they are to break???TeganX7 20:45, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
