Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on November 25, 2014.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that Johnny Burnette once had nine hits in a Major League Baseball game?

Inclusion of players with 6 hits in regulation that are also part of extra innings list

[edit]

Hypothetically speaking, if an MLB player would have 8 hits in the first 9 innings and the game would proceed past regulation, the player would be granted status as the record-holder by conventional standards, and the fact that the game went past 9 innings would be noted as an asterisk. Therefore, wouldn't it also make sense to include (on the regulation/9 innings list) players whose 6 hits came in the first 9 innings but for whom the game proceeded past that point? Ruttgc49 (talk
