[edit]- This should be a redlink free zone, even then it would still be awesome listcruft. Anybody suggesting that there are no vanity "players" here? Come on now... per WP:REDBLUE, WP:NOT, WP:LIST and others, this is not appropriate, WP:NOT for mere collection of internal links for a start (official policy). Deizio 16:51, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
re-prod
[edit]This already failed a prod (listed by me, removed by User:Kappa) so the next step in the process is AfD. Re-prods are discouraged by WP:PROD... However, given the support for much worse lists than this recently, I don't think it would be deleted, despite the very valid policy concerns expressed by myself and User:Appropriate Username. Deizio 09:17, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- As User:Appropriate Username has just been blocked for a week, I've de-re-prodded this one for now. As above, AfD would be the next step... Deizio 13:43, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Potential
[edit]There is potential for a decent list - List of Arsenal F.C. players is a featured list. I'll establish some criteria and start removing some of those who do not meet it. Oldelpaso 18:19, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- I have improved the list in the style of the Arsenal one, but I'll need help in creating articles to kill the redlinks. So, feel free anyone... ArtVandelay13 18:45, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
Karlheinz Riedle
[edit]Although Karlheinz didn't make 100 appearances (76 games, 15 goals), I personally think he had an impact comparable to some players in this list. Should I add him to the list or is he too small-time a figure in Liverpool's great history? ny156uk 19:20, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, it's tricky. I liked Riedle, but I think he suffered slightly from playing in quite an unsuccessful time for the club. So it's hard make a case for him having made a greater contribution than loads of other players, so the floodgates may open and the list would become way too big. I'm open to future additions, possibly even Riedle, but there may need to be some sort of voting process for players under the 100 game mark. ArtVandelay13 10:16, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Markus Babbel
[edit]What's the justification for Markus Babbel's inclusion in this list. He's 27 off the 100 appearance mark and I don't ever remember him being Captain. HornetMike 15:45, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- Because he would have passed the total were it not for a serious illness, and in the games he did play, he made a huge impact. I know that sounds a bit POV, but it did pass the featured vote with him included. ArtVandelay13 16:03, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, but that justification could be used for a fair number of players down the years, if you substitute injury for illness. Don't get me wrong, I'm not that bothered, and I know it passed Featured with him in it, but it does jar when you're scanning the list. Cheers, HornetMike 09:13, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- Markus Babbel is easily notable enough. If you ran a poll on every liverpool fc forum, there would total confusion at his exclusion from the list. He scored in a European final for us (i'm a red) and was a very important player for us before his illness. --90.195.186.116 (talk) 02:30, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Joe Louis?
[edit]His article states that he was signed by Liverpool and is still in the records. Of course, he never played a game or anything, but isn't he notable? Should he be mentioned somewhere? Mrbluesky 18:14, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- From the lead of the article: This is a list of notable footballers who have played for Liverpool. Generally, this means players that have played 100 or more first-class matches for the club. However, some players who have played fewer matches are also included; players who fell just short of the 100 total but made significant contributions to the club's history. Joe Louis made no significant contribution to the club's history, and thus is not included. Oldelpaso 18:21, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, someone added him to the list previously, and I removed him. The category is appropriate enough. ArtVandelay13 18:31, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Glenn Hysén
[edit]Where´s Glenn Hysén? he played for the a couple of years in the late 80's and early 90's but he isn't in the list... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.252.185.53 (talk • contribs)
- The list has a minimum requirement of 100 appearances, with a few exceptions, such a criteria was needed to ensure the list is featured. Unfortunately Hysén falls short. ArtVandelay13 13:03, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Duncan McLean redirect
[edit]The Duncan McLean link needs to be redirected to the Duncan McLean (footballer) page. Does anyone know how to do this? In fact, there are two footballers called Duncan McLean, the other one plays for Tayport and is mentioned in that article. --Peripatetic 19:25, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- Done - The sortname tag has a third paramater for disambiguation names, e.g. Duncan|McLean|Duncan McLean (footballer). I've changed it. ArtVandelay13 19:55, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- PS the other Duncan McLean is probably not notable enough, unless he has played in the SPL or SFL. ArtVandelay13 19:56, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Positions
[edit]What the hell is a half back, sounds a bit like SOCKKKKKKer instead of football —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.194.227.20 (talk • contribs)
- It's an old-style position, before the 1950s and 60s, British teams used to play 2-3-5, 2 full-backs, 3 half-backs, 2 outside-forwards, 2 inside-forwards and 1 centre-forward. ArtVandelay13 16:29, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Archie Macpherson article is not about a Liverpool player
[edit]This article is about the scottish commentator, not the Liverpool F.C player that played for the club between 1929 and 1934. I do not find an article about him. I guess it hasn't been written. Kind regards TEMH (talk) 19:20, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- I could have sworn it used to be, but anyway, I've fixed the link, and I'll add the artlcle. ArtVandelay13 (talk) 20:17, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- And done. ArtVandelay13 (talk) 20:36, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- There you go. Well done. TEMH (talk) 18:39, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- And done. ArtVandelay13 (talk) 20:36, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Fernando Torres
[edit]What about Fernando Torres? Granted, he's made below 50 appearances but even if he were sold now, he would be worthy of a place in the list for his excellent record-breaking contributions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.205.76.120 (talk) 09:38, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Symbols
[edit]† usually indicates death. I'd pick something else. ArtVandelay13 (talk) 20:08, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ok but just so you know, this symbol is widely used in many featured lists, so I think it is fine NapHit (talk) 20:15, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Is it used on lists of people, next to dates, though? ArtVandelay13 (talk) 20:50, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe not sure it's used here and here in these lists NapHit (talk) 20:52, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Gary McAllister

100 Players Who Shook the Kop
[edit]Thoughts on adding the players who made either the 2006 or 2013 lists but aren't on this list? The affected players are the following:
- Nicolas Anelka
- Markus Babbel
- Nick Barmby
- Craig Bellamy
- Titi Camara
- Djibril Cissé
- Nigel Clough
- Stan Collymore
- Howard Gayle
- Andrew Hannah
- Glenn Hysén
- Paul Ince
- Jari Litmanen
- Gary McAllister
- Erik Meijer
- Neil Mellor
- Maxi Rodríguez
- Ronny Rosenthal
- Mohamed Sissoko
- Luis Suárez
I appreciate that some of these are more notable than others (Cissé, Hannah, Ince, McAllister, Sissoko and Suárez seem like good calls to be on the list though...), and there are probably good reasons why some of them are not included (it's a mystery to me how Camara, Clough, Litmanan, Meijer or Mellor got onto 100PWSTK at all...). I just wondered what peoples opinions were. WilliamF1two (talk) 11:58, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- This list is for players who made 100 appearances or more for Liverpool; those who made fewer are listed at List of Liverpool F.C. players (25–99 appearances) and List of Liverpool F.C. players (fewer than 25 appearances). Mattythewhite (talk) 16:36, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oops, my bad, I didn't read the lead paragraph carefully enough... In that case, however, what are Babel, Benayoun, Garcia, etc. doing here? WilliamF1two (talk) 22:26, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- All competitions are accounted for, meaning those players are included. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:46, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- Ach, my bad again, I was looking at the starts column rather than total appearances... Sorry, I'm clearly having a slow day today. WilliamF1two (talk) 23:29, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Minamino
[edit]Please add Takumi Minamino to the list as well. He plays for Liverpool F.C now and he isn’t noted in the list of players. -Cupper52 (talk) -08:19, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- There are three separate lists; those for players who've made over 100 appearances (this one), those who've made between 25 and 99 appearances, and one for those who've made under 25 appearances. Minamino is on the latter. NapHit (talk) 11:52, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Please can you change the redirect 100 Players Who Shook The Kop from List of Liverpool F.C. players to List of Liverpool F.C. players and add {{R to section}}? It's more helpful to a reader if the redirect goes to teh section about that specific competition. Joseph2302 (talk) 11:30, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
