"Born in the Soviet Union"

Lithuanians find it offensive when it is remarked that someone who was born within the borders of modern Lithuania was "born in the Soviet Union."Perhaps "born in Lithuanian SSR" or "born Soviet-occupied Lithuania" would be a good compromise.
