Bert Parnaby
[edit]The actor Bert Parnaby appeared in a number of episodes. Anyone have the details? DFH 19:58, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- The book "Last of the Summer Wine: The Finest Vintage" by Morris Bright and Robert Ross says: "The late northern club comic played the eponymous hero of the 1989 Summer Wine show Come Back, Jack Harry Teesdale. He proved so popular that he was hastily invited back to re-create his role in The Charity Balls (1990)." Bluap 05:19, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Bill Owen, Kathy Staff.jpg
[edit]Image:Bill Owen, Kathy Staff.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:13, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've added a fair use rationale for the image Bluap 02:28, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Billy Hardcastle and Alvin Smedley
[edit]Should Billy Hardcastle and Alvin Smedley be included on this page since they are part of the trio/quartet from 2001 to 2006 and 2003 to present, respectively? They are also discussed on the main article. Redfarmer 09:42, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- Since no one has said anything, I'm deleting them from this page unless anyone has any objections. -- Redfarmer 15:20, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Rename?
[edit]Would anyone be terribly offended if I renamed this article to Supporting characters in Last of the Summer Wine? Recurring makes me think they don't appear in every episode, which some of them don't, but Kathy Staff appears in the opening credits as second billed now, implying a much greater role than previously. Infoboxes
[edit]I just want to go on record as saying I hate the infoboxes, they clutter the page too much, and I'm all for removing them since they really provide no useful information. Redfarmer (talk) 02:27, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Couldn't agree more! There should be enough info in the section, infoboxes are for full character articles. --Ged UK (talk) 12:58, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Smiler departure
[edit]Smiler left the series in 2007 due to Stephen Lewis' ill health. Is there any explanation for the departure of his character or is he not mentioned ever again in subsequent episodes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.108.133.204 (talk) 20:47, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Cast table
[edit]I think the new cast table is really helpful. I have a couple of suggestions/comments:
- As this is an article about characters, might it be better organised the other way about; have cast member (wikilinked) in the leftmost column, and the character name running across the row?
- Are Sid and Wally principal enough to go in? Sid was in it 10 years, Wally 12, so I would argue yes, but the table could start to get overly large. GedUK 10:23, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, sounds good. Only one problem, the leftmost column is very tight and I doubt the actors' names would fit in. I haven't much time over the next few weeks. If you'd like to make the changes then please, feel free to do so. The Music Collector (talk) 12:24, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, perhaps we could fiddle with the widths. I'll let the discussion run a little more first, partly to get a better consensus, and partyl because I break tables as soon as I start fiddling with them! GedUK 12:57, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Whos Aunty is Auntie Wainwright?
[edit]When Auntie Wainwright first appeared she was Wesley's Aunt and when Seymour was around they both mentioned to being related by marriage, however once Foggy return she became Howard's Auntie. Unless of course Howard and Wesley are also related somehow. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.10.84.3 (talk) 11:20, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
- It's Holmfirth, everybody's related to everybody else :) 82.38.206.148 (talk) 19:36, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
- Wasn't she introduced as Howard's Auntie? Bluap (talk) 20:02, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
Trio chart
[edit]How come both F and G bars have the same meaning (Sallis, Clifford, Thornton)? Shouldn't there just be one bar covering seasons 22-27?
