heavy revamp work
[edit]I've been doing heavy research on Jamestown, and I've cleaned up a lot of the lists of colonists and non-colonists. I started a navbox, too: {{Jamestown Colony}}. For the List of Jamestown colonists article, what remains to be done is:
- General
look for missing names in references- look for more notable names that have existing wiki articles
- Third Supply
- split out the Sea Venture passengers/castaways from the rest (some are mariners, too... not Jamestown colonists)
- possibly identify those who died on Bermuda and on the Catch
- Fourth Supply
- using Third Supply lists, show a colonist/mariner list that arrived from Bermuda to Jamestown on the Patience and Deliverance
- determine if those people are technically fourth supply or something else
- Fifth Supply
- determine if notable enough to include at all
- fill out colonists/mariners list
- post-Fifth Supplies
- determine if notable enough to include other ships/supplies. Perhaps make a cutoff date for "first colonists" versus everyone else (such as Tobacco brides and 1619's The White Lion).
- Reference cleanup!
- consolidate references manually
- cleanup pass with https://refill.toolforge.org/

- Captain Thomas Lawson is listed here as arriving in Jamestown in 1608 but Thomas Dale's Report on the Jamestown Colony in 1611 clearly states that Captain Lawson arrived with Lord de la Warre as part of the Fourth Supply Mission in 1610. It also says the Lawson was commissioned captain over a company of 50 men and tasked with rebuilding the stables at Jamestown Fort (presumably destroyed during the 'starving times". This is likely the same Thomas Lawson who lived in one of the settlements on the lower side of the James River within the corporation of James City (8-15) who died sometime after Apr 1623 but before 16 Feb 1624, as recorded on Virginia’s first census just after the Jamestown Massacre.
