GP2 Asia Series

[edit]

Any particular reason why GP2 Asia series drivers have been excluded from this list. It seems fitting that they should be included —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.40.220.153 (talk) 17:16, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whilst the two series use cars designed to the same specifications, and have (almost) the same teams taking part, the GP2 Series and GP2 Asia Series are distinct championships and are treated as such throughout Wikipedia (e.g. Romain Grosjean's infobox, which has the GP2 Series as the current championship, does not include his GP2 Asia Series statistics. I have moved this article to emphasise the fact that the two series are distinct, as "GP2" on its own could suggest that both series should be included.--Diniz(talk) 22:19, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've made a list of GP2 Asia Series drivers here.--Diniz(talk) 23:28, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting

[edit]

Just wondering - current GP2 series drivers are indicated in bold and blue shading. Needs one or the other, not both. Also shaded are drivers who have raced in Formula One, but yet the article makes no attempt to explain why this is in any way significant. I'm proposing to remove the coloured shading. --Falcadore (talk) 23:23, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would support removing the bolding and thus keeping the blue shading. As for F1 drivers being shaded, there is a connection between GP2 and F1, but it's not formalised in the same way that, for instance, the tiers of NASCAR and MotoGP are. I don't have a strong opinion on whether the gold and green shading should be kept or removed.--Midgrid(talk) 12:16, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing in the article explaining that connection, formalised or otherwise. So, it should be removed, or explained in such a manner that the shading has value, becuase presently it does not.
It needs to be remembered that the target audience of wikipedia has no understanding of what F1 or GP2 is, the article contents should contain sufficient explanation that the reader needs no pre-requisite knowledge of the subject. We both know there is a connection between F1 and GP2, but the list does not explain that connection, nor does it explain why that connection is relevant to the subject of the article List of GP2 Series drivers. --Falcadore (talk) 12:26, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK then, I would support a removal of the shading unless anyone else wishes to object, or add some explanatory material to the article.--Midgrid(talk) 14:23, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
