Should we not be adding references for each player to prove they actually did play cricket and football at the level and for the clubs indicated? Verifiability and all that? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:40, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If their article is referenced, does it need to be duplicated here? Beve (talk) 11:56, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd have thought all Wikipedia articles need their own references, regardless of whether any articles linked to are properly referenced or not. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:18, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Whilst it would be easy to add a reference to cricinfo or cricketarchive for the cricket career, is there a universal reference for the football career which covers all eras from Victorian to today? Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 12:40, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For players who played in the Football League, Michael Joyce's Football League Players' Records 1888 to 1939 ISBN 978-1-899468-67-6 covers pre-WW2 and Neil Brown's site covers post-WW2 appearances. I have a copy of Joyce's book and would be willing to add references to that, if that would help. Though Joyce doesn't cover players who pre-dated the Football League, or players in the early but still professional Southern League, for instance. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:02, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a column for the cricket profile and have added the first few to show how I think it should look. Are you happy for me to carry on? I'll leave you to add a similar column for the football links, if you think fit. I suggest they should be added as a column in the table rather than at the foot as this is far better visually, IMHO. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 13:35, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please carry on :-) though do you think the links might look better centred in the column rather than on the left? I'll start doing something similar for the football once you've finished with the cricket ones, to avoid edit conflicts. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:52, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Barnard

[edit]

You have missed a very significant entry:

Henry Michael (Mike) Barnard played over 100 matches for Portsmouth FC in the old First Division in the 1950s and many more matches than that for Hampshire County Cricket Club (including their 1961 title side). He is particularly interesting having been born in Portsmouth, Hampshire and played for no-one else in the Football League or First-Class cricket

I would have edited this myself but not technically able

So we had... Many thanks for drawing him to our attention. If no-one else gets there first, I'll add a note of his football career to his embryonic article here, which doesn't yet mention it. And if you spot any more omissions, please don't hesitate... Thanks again, Struway2 (talk) 17:15, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Clare Taylor

[edit]

Why has Clare Taylor been reduced to "see also" status? Was she not an English cricket and football player? Clavdia chauchat (talk) 17:25, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mick Lambert

[edit]

Would Mick Lambert count on professional footballers & cricketers? He played football for Ipswich and Peterborough. In cricket he played for Cambridgeshire, which I appreciate is a minor county cricket side. However, I have noticed that Oxford & Cambridge University's do count. He was also once an unused twelfth-man for England.
