More
[edit]Should the following be included?
- Sayed Darwish (wrote a few operettas)
- Tawfik El-Basha (wrote an oratorio)
- Ahmed El-Henawy
- Mohammed Saad

- I agree on adding Sayed Darwish... Add Mohammed Saad only if he composed his songs (which i doubt)... dont even know who the other two are. Maged M. Mahfouz (talk) 19:29, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Darwish isn't included as a "classical composer" by El-Kholy, probably because he composed songs in a monophonic style (i.e., just the melody). I think she considers him a songwriter in the Egyptian tradition rather than in a symphonic style. This is why she also don't include people like Mohammed Abdel Wahab. Still, he seems to have composed operettas. I think the Mohammed Saad I read about isn't the same one as the person in the Wikipedia article. Badagnani (talk) 19:31, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Cutoff between Third and Fourth Generations
[edit]What should be the cutoff between the Third and Fourth Generations? Ghoneim and Daoud (generally considered the top composers of the Third Generation) were born 1955 or before, and Osman in 1958. Should all composers from 1958- be listed as members of the Fourth Generation? That would mean that there appear to be very few composers in the Third Generation. Badagnani (talk) 05:46, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
John O. Robison groups Osman, Daoud, Shokry, Mohieddin, Abdelfattah, et al. as the Third Generation, presumably because they were students of the Second Generation. Badagnani (talk) 21:55, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Links in Third Generation section
[edit]Muhammad Sultan and Ahmed Abdallah who are listed among the Third Generation do not link to composers. --2.206.46.5 (talk) 17:20, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
