Missing titles
Good work on the list, however as I was adding the novelisation information to the story articles I discovered that the Target line did not end with the Pescatons. Although they were published in the Virgin NA/MA format, the novelisations of Evil of the Daleks, Power of the Daleks and Paradise of Death were in fact considered part of the Target line (this is indicated on the front page of each book). I'll let you add those since you created the list. It might also be worth noting that the first three books were originally published by others in 1964-65. 23skidoo 16:35, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
- yes I only just realised this too, looking at a copy of The Power of the Daleks novelisation. Tim! (talk) 20:58, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Published by Target
Should this heading be something like "in the Target range" instead? Weren't those last three published by Virgin but, for The Fans, given Target range numbers, rather than being published by Target Books? What do the imprint in the books say? I don't have any here to check. —Whouk (talk) 20:56, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- As 23skidoo notes above, they are actually labelled on the inside as Target books. The In Target site lulled me into thinking they weren't until I looked at one ! Tim! (talk) 21:00, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, missed that entirely! I'm not sure that it's quite the same as saying they were published by Target, though, but it may be the pedantic cataloguer in me creeping online :-) —Whouk (talk) 21:24, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Changing Titles
I don't know if this would be the best place for it, but is it worth putting some text in to refer to the fact that the early Target novelisations insisted on the "Doctor Who And The ..." format, and changed some series titles to fit this - "Spearhead From Space" to "and the Auton Invasion"; "Robot!" to "and the Giant Robot" and the like? Not novelisations?
Should Harry Sullivan's War and The Earthlink Dilemma be on the list, as they're original novels rather than novelisations? (Mission to Magnus et al seem OK as they're novelised - I think...? - from the original TV outlines/scripts.) —Whouk (talk) 08:04, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- i think they are worth mentioning (if maybe not in the list) as they were part of a series with the novelisation of K-9 and company. Tim! (talk) 21:01, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- The page has changed a fair bit since I wrote that - I think they're fine in the list as it is now. —Whouk (talk) 21:24, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Is there another full list of Doctor Who books? (that would include Legacy of the Daleks etc...). Thanks Antmusic 20:19, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
What happened to Invasion of the Bane?
I thought the Sarah Jane Adventures episode Invasion of the Bane was novelized? Yet all references to this appear to have been removed. What happened - was it cancelled? 23skidoo (talk) 13:55, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Audiobook versions
I've added a paragraph indicating that BBC Audio has been releasing unabridged audiobook versions of the Target novelisations since 2005/2007. Is this something we'd want to add to the table? CanadianLemming (talk) 17:24, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- I wonder if a field should be added to the chart indicating which books have been released in audio form? 23skidoo (talk) 14:06, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Additions and removals
I've tweaked the listings a bit. First I've added a list of the SJA novelisations (since I posted my query above I've been able to obtain more information about them and even ordered one from the UK). I also removed a couple from the main list that shouldn't have been included - the Turlough Earthlink Dilemma and Harry Sullivan's War books, although based upon characters from the series, were original works and not novelisations. When I have time I'll add the three novelisations from the Missing Episodes sub-series, which I don't think are included. 23skidoo (talk) 14:06, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
