Overlinking and amateur taxonomy

[edit]

As with many articles about kids' movies and TV shows (and especially true when they involve talking animals and/or dinosaurs), this article is prone to two recurring problems.

Overlinking is the tendency to add too many wikilinks. Wikipedia has millions of articles covering virtually ever common noun you can think of. Most wikilinks added to articles are never used -- no one ever clicks on them. So, unless the term is likely not understood by most fluent speakers of English or there is some particular reason the link will help readers understand the topic of the article.

Virtually everyone who speaks English knows what a horse/dog/Paris/veterinarian is. Don't link to commonly understood nouns.

Amateur taxonomy is the tendency for editors to want to specify the species (or breed) of animals. They'll let a tree be a tree, but the bird in the tree must be a grey-tailed Libyan horn swallow. The film likely does not specify and independent reliable sources don't say for one reason: it does not matter. The specific species is immaterial to the film. Bottom line: it's trivial and original research. - SummerPhDv2.0 18:21, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
