The big idea

[edit]

An editor has proposed deletion for each of the extant Continental Football League team article as as I do not have enough writing and research time in the next few days to bring them all up to snuff, I'm proposing the articles that do not meet WP:GNG be merged here where the text can be improved, expanded, and properly referenced. (In aggregate and with the available sources, such a list is both verifiable and notable even though not all list items yet met that standard.) With that work complete for a team, it could once again have its own article while his list maintained a brief description and a link to the team's article. - Dravecky (talk) 07:48, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That would certainly be acceptable if you or someone can find independent reliable sources for the league showing the notability. It looks like that can be done based on archives in Google News from 1965-1969 (reserving the right to read the articles in more detail before I "pass judgement" -- whatever that means). However, I'd encourage you to bolster efforts on the Continental Football League main article. If I can find some time, I'll help. It looks to me like the league is certainly notable but I can't agree on every team being notable at this time (at least, not enough for each team to have its own article). That said, I think a list might well be a good accent to that main article. And, any teams that do turn up to be notable on their own can certainly have their own article.--Paul McDonald (talk) 15:51, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
