Fair use rationale for Image:Little red book.jpg
[edit]Image:Little red book.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

false attribution
[edit]The line beginning 大學之道在明明德 da xue zhi dao zai ming ming de... is attributed to Mencius. No way. The author of the work is unknown. Most modern scholars believe, on the basis of textual evidence, that it was written after Mencius, maybe as late as the opening years of the Han dynasty. The traditional account is that it came after Confucius but before Mencius.
The works of Mencius are collected in the book by that name. The quoted passage is not found therein.P0M (talk) 06:45, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Error, 实事求是 was not coined by Mao
[edit]The article currently states that "实事求是" was "coined" by Mao Zedong.
This is false.
The phrase dates back to "the book of Han", and interest in it revived in various periods. Mao's generation was directly influenced by the 19th century "Han Learning Movement", that basically regarded the Ming and Song dynasties as problematic, and revived bits and pieces selected from Han literature as representing the highest ideals of Chinese civilization (obviously, a culturally complex process with a fair bit of propaganda invovled, even at that stage).
If you google the phrase, you'll find many sources stating that it originates in the Han dynasty; however, I do not have any sources that it suitable to be cited in a wikipedia article. e.g., http://www.edbchinese.hk/trad/en/topic03a.htm (here it appears in traditional characters, 實事求是). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jep Tong (talk • contribs) 15:43, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
Error, 天下為公 was not coined by Sun Yat-Sen
[edit]天下為公 is a quotation from the ancient author 墨子 (this is even mentioned within the Wikipedia article on 墨子!).
Although modern interest in the phrase was (perhaps) increased when Sun Yat-Sen employed it as a quotation, this page should not suggest that it is a quotation from Sun Yat-sen. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jep Tong (talk • contribs) 15:50, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
