Improper merge proposal

November 2008, had someone suggesting merging

without initiating a section here for discussion. Since apples are not oranges or pears, I find their lack of justification drearily sophomoric and without merit. // FrankB 22:42, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Oppose for Major villains in Charmed -- with 66 cites, and organized by season, and synopsis tie-ins, but 'not by character names', the article is more a discussion of the fictional use of major villains in the series, so is unsuited as merger candidate with the two list articles.
Support merging the two lists of characters (which would also logically contain a synopsis para for each major villain and the major stars satisfying notability with their own articles as well) into one comprehensive alphabetical list servicing the series. // FrankB 18:51, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Going forward

Merger completed in Early January, 2009. I'm much more focused on adding to and expanding the subpages of List of Charmed episodes such as Charmed (season 1), Charmed (season 2), and so forth, and while doing so am adding content here (as it is convenient to do so).

  • Consequently, the format differences are not my focus at this time, so feel free to pick the one that makes best sense for the most number of sections and their content.
  • Section length herein I expect should be kept to a long paragraph in length. // FrankB 23:49, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Noted unwanted behavior

List of Charmed characters (edit talk links history)
The problem reported following may have been in {{Anchor}} vice that reported below as shown by the two changes in this edit — but I find that less likely as the shortform mode of Chrmdchar uses switch parserfunctions, and this symptom has been seen in other contexts and templates elsewhere by me. - FrankB

The character page accessing templagte {{Chrmdchar}} was seen today to cause section edit tab mismatches when used in shortform name modes... notably, when giving {{Chrmdchar|Paige}} successive edit sections lower down the page were opening edits to sections which were more and more increasingly far above the actual place in the page... so sections were getting lost. Setting arg-2 to the optional long form using "l=1" cured the symptoms, and restored alignment between sections and edit tabs.
  • should the short name form be desired in the link in the text, using the 'p=' optional parameter can let you display whatever you wish. // FrankB 16:45, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

The image File:8x20-058-coop.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Handling means--very minor characters

Prior to the creation of a separate Lists of Charmed guest supporting roles or Lists of Charmed minor characters or whatever, I've set up link handling from the eight 'Charmed (season X)' pages for such minor 'cannon fodder' or supporting characters (uniformed police directing traffic, another parent, etc.) as have a single name in scripts. This I've organized by episodes giving the three part decimal like episode code numbers starting with the needs of Saving Private Leo or Episode 4.17, creating a list of characters with that section titles as their last name, so to speak. The new template {{ChrmdMchar}} will be a variant of {{Chrmdchar}} allowing the three cornered associations between, list of actors, lists of characters, lists of episode details.

These I've temporarily placed under the container (folder) section [[List of Charmed characters# Minor guest roles of single names| Minor guest roles of single names]], given the text introduction:

This section is a partial list of guest roles, where actors are not given in a script with a full name but by needs of the writers: Policemen, victims, minion demons, and so forth. Such actors are normally credited after the episode in the ending credits of the episode, which recaps both the Credited Guest Stars, whose names appear during the main title credits (normally after the first commercial interlude)

and established the example sub-section:
