Proposed Deletion
[edit]Nuttah, please give your specific reason for your deletion proposal for this page.Jembana (talk) 11:39, 5 July 2010 (UTC) Nuttah, your reasons for proposing this are obscure to me and certainly not apparent from reading what you have written or what's on your Wiki link. Please explain with specifics. Please reply.Jembana (talk) 11:58, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- This article is linked to from the music section on the Celts (Modern) page and stems from the styles of singing outlined on that page. This article has been reviewed and added to by another author than just me so give more than few days to discuss. I have explained which article it stems from and is an adjunct to - are you now satisfied ?Jembana (talk) 12:53, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Discussion of this moved from my talk page to here:
The article List of Celtic choirs has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- 'Directory listing of (what would be) red links. Fails WP:NOT'
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nuttah (talk) 10:58, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

The list was proposed for deletion because of a number of reasons, mainly Wikipedia is not a directory. List should only link to articles, not external websites. If the articles do not exist, then the list should not exist. I'll give it a few days, but it looks like it cannot be turned into a Wikipedia article. Nuttah (talk) 12:34, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

- No, it does not matter where it is linked from. Guidelines are clear, list cannot be made of of external links and must be based around a list of articles. Nuttah (talk) 13:04, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- The section you pointed me to as a reason (Wikipedia isnot a directory) does not say that. Anyway, if you give me a week I will address the points you raise as a gesture of good will. I will need a week to complete the write up. Is this OK with you ? Jembana (talk) 14:00, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- I am not sure which guideline is referred to re lists "must be based around a list of articles". Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists#Common selection criteria allows for lists that are "are created explicitly because most or all of the listed items do not warrant independent articles". - Consensus is that this page not be deleted and will be progressed further. Thanks for your contribution, Ben MacDui. Jembana (talk) 00:10, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
