@TCMallard, what's your view on the criteria for including handicap races? You've removed some races today which have articles linked, with no clear reason for removing them. Bcp67 (talk) 18:34, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bcp67 how I work it out is I add a race that is worth £75,000 or more and is a class 2 race that is not a consolation race. I also add ones that are £50,000 or more and are historical and/or that course's feature race of the season e.g. the Thirsk Hunt Cup. TCMallard (talk) 15:31, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply, and that sounds a reasonable criteria - I had a feeling that Class 2 races were a sort of cut-off for you. I think it's worth stating that criteria the top of the handicap races section itself although the historical part is subjective to an extent - no doubt something like the Cambridgeshire is clearly historical but there's a grey area for other races . Personally I'd also include any race that has a wikipedia article itself, such as the Great Metropolitan which had a good history at one time but has sunk in value and prestige. Do you think its worth adding columns for the Class and value in K to the non-pattern race sections? --Bcp67 (talk) 15:38, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What about the other sections? I can see, for example, the Wood Ditton in the conditions race section, which is a Class 2 worth only £10K but is a race with a bit of history to it. Bcp67 (talk) 16:03, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bcp67 things like the Wood Ditton and the Brocklesby are more for historical merit so yes, perhaps the conditions section should also have class and prize money attached as such as the Queen Alexandra is very different to the Winter Derby Trial in stature but this isn't obvious TCMallard (talk) 17:20, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think we should even have the Winter Derby Trial? To be honest I added it, but seeing it as a 20K race with no great history, I'm not sure now. There was a Listed Winter Derby Trial at Lingfield but that's now become the Tandridge Stakes. Bcp67 (talk) 19:49, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
