Top Song of 1965: (I Can't Get No) Explanation
[edit]This Wikipedia entry states, without explanation, that the #1 song of 1965 was “Wooly Bully,” by Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs, though it never reached #1 during the year. According to Joel Whitburn’s “Top Pop Singles 1955-2015,” the #1 song of 1965 on Billboard was “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” by The Rolling Stones, which was #1 for 4 weeks. This is consistent with Billboard‘s policy of ranking songs by the number of weeks they were #1. Asked to correct this entry or include an explanation, Wiki editors cited Billboard's issue of December 25, 1965, which does indeed list "Wooly Bully" as the #1 song of the year, again without explanation. I leave it to the good offices of Wiki readers to arrive at a conclusion in this critical matter. Zimmo1025 (talk) 21:22, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
