Alumni

[edit]
  1. James Gurney, Illustrator and Painter
  2. Thomas Kinkade, American Painter

They only went to Art Center for 2 semesters. They never graduated, so they are not really Alumni. They are mostly self taught illustrators. As usual, Art Center is touting its success off of the careers of others, and some of them just attended for yuks.

Miles Teves 'attended' Art Center for a couple of semesters. Why don't you have him listed at an alumni? He's done over 20 years of concept art for movies, and big block buster movies. You probably won't list him because he says on his website ACCD is a rip off.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.192.132.211 (talk) 15:21, 14 October 2009

Alumni≠graduates, so those that attended can be on this list. Also, I will be removing all the entries with no WP article or reference soon, so the addition of any references would be appreciated. Alanraywiki (talk) 01:36, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Roland Young was one of the mainstay enigmas of ACCD, just as Ted Youngkin and Burne Hogarth were. He represented the old guard that ACCD use to be famous or infamous for. I hope that decision of eliminating his name is not purely based on political reasons and a need to rewrite history?

I have added 3 good links to articles about Roland, and one illustrative one. I know WP needs links to back things up, but saying Roland Young didn't teach at Art Center is like saying George Washington wasn't president.97.75.161.222 (talk) 16:12, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you're going to remove Roland Young's name, I think you should at least reapply Lou Danziger's name: http://www.aiga.org/content.cfm/medalist-louisdanziger

He taught many of your own instructors. At the very least he's an historical reference not only to himself.

The only reason these names were removed from the article is, as noted at the beginning of this section, there is no citation to indicate notability and that they attended/taught at the Art Center College of Design. If you have a reference that supports these two things, feel free to add them back. By the way, I have no affiliation with the school so there are no politics involved. By the way, with the reference you gave I added back Danziger. Thanks,
Well, here's Miles Teves Wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miles_Teves. I want him added for 'political' reasons. I just like the guy. Per your criteria he should be added for attending Art Center and his notable accomplishments as a concept designer/illustrator. :However, I don't believe ACCD is fully responsible for his accomplishments, just as I don't for Kinkade and Gurney.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.192.132.211 (talkcontribs) date
I added Teves. This list does not determine if ACCD is fully responsible for his accomplishments, just that he attended. Alanraywiki (talk) 16:33, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ted Youngkin, ACCD Faculty and daughter's tribute: http://deansgarage.com/2009/ted-younkin/ I think he represents the old guard of ACCD. His teaching method was a fierce boot camp type mentality, which I don't necessarily approve of but I don't think that part of ACCD legacy should be ignored. He taught at ACCD for over 40 years, so I think that's notable unto itself.

I'm not sure Dean's Garage is a reliable source. It looks more like a blog. Feel free to add these people to the article yourself with a reference from a reliable source. And please sign your posts with four tildes. Alanraywiki (talk) 17:46, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
