Archbishops

[edit]

The list is very incomplete. When I came across it earlier today I found that it contained, for example, two of the Australian Archbishops, but not the others. The only African Archbishop listed was Cape Town; it could be argued that this is because the others in Africa are largely archbishops in moveable primacies, and therefore don't link to specific dioceses; however, the same is true of other archbishops who WERE already in the list (eg Scotland, Wales, ECUSA's Presiding Bishop). It seems to me that a full list of all the archbishops is a useful resource, so I would suggest that we fully populate the list - I have made a start on doing so. Where an archbishopric is moveable, the see name of the current archbishop will also be listed in the "Bishops" list, if we have been fully comprehensive in this work. Thanks for taking this on. I think that a list of dioceses is right, and then it might be nice to have a list of the "movable" or "non-local" primacies and such, as a separate category or otherwise clearly identified in the groupings. Tb (talk) 05:05, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and most of the articles are about the dioceses, not the bishops. I think the right thing is to keep the article title, and change the text to match. A list of dioceses is far more relevant than a list of bishoprics. Tb (talk) 05:07, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK - a three year delay is inexcusable, but I am getting cracking now, populating this list where gaps exist. Started with Korea. There was a mix of singulars and plurals in use (Bishop of and Bishops of). In general, unless there's a specific reason to the contrary, I'm turning all to the singular form. Where there is a specific bishopric article (as opposed to a diocesan article) 99% of article titles use the singular form, and it seems logical to follow suit in this list. I believe the Archbishops list is now complete, but work continues on the list of diocesan bishops. Timothy Titus Talk To TT 01:50, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well that's been a few days' work, but I believe all the dioceses are now listed, except the United Churches of India. I will add them in later in the week. Timothy Titus Talk To TT 03:43, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
