Inclusion guidelines

[edit]

It looks like a note was added to each section recommending editors check the talk page before adding anyone. Following up on that, from past experience, there are two widely used criteria for membership list-articles:

  1. All entries should be notable by Wikipedia's guidelines. As a rule of thumb, this means that a person should already have a Wikipedia article with reliable, independent sources establishing notability before being added to this list. See Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Lists of people and Wikipedia:Write the article first.
  2. All entries must have a reliable source saying that the person belonged to Alpha Delta Phi. In this case, the source doesn't strictly have to be independent of the person, but it must still be otherwise reliable. If membership is not explained, with a source, at the person's article, the source should be used here on this list. Personal familiarity is not usable, as Wikipedia doesn't publish original research. Info must be verifiable. If no soure can be found, it doesn't belong on this list.

Any exception to these guidelines would need a discussion first. Wikipedia also has stricter standards for Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, which may come in to play in such cases. Thanks. Grayfell (talk) 03:47, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
