Documentary sources of this list?

[edit]

Hi, I believe this is a potentially interesting and useful list. The only issue is that it does not mention sources or bibliography that supports it. Can anybody (ideally the author of this article) please improve it by mentioning the relevant sources? Thanks, DPdH (talk) 08:08, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adequate format for this list?

[edit]

Hi, I've just noticed the latest edit (section "Battleships", by an anonymous user) did not follow the format used previously:

  • it added additional information that might be useful but redundant (the details should be in each ship's wikiarticle), which can lead to inconsistency;
  • it removed the links to existing wikiarticles on the ships mentioned, which makes difficult to a reader to "drill down" on the details for them (spceifications, history, etc).

Additionally, it does not mention the "sources" for the information added (which is a problem for this whole "list"). I feel that this edit should be reverted, then the 7th battleship should be added (after validating against credible sources). any comment on this proposal? Thanks & regards, DPdH (talk) 05:58, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Motor Gun Boat flotillas

[edit]

"Additional protection from E-boats was provided by various Motor Gun Boat flotillas"
The Motor Torpedo Boats, Motor Gun Boats and US Navy PT boats were generally aided by a Coastal Forces control frigate, should these frigates be listed? --Thefrood (talk) 00:18, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

LSTs and other warships?

[edit]

LSTs were armed vessels; warships. While primarily used to land supplies on the beach, they provided anti-aircraft fire and support fire. I beleuve there were other "hybrid" vessels of as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.133.138.115 (talk) 19:00, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
