UCI Professional Continental Tour
[edit]I'm a little but confused by this. As far as I am aware, there is no such thing as the 'UCI Professional Continental Tour', nor for that matter the 'UCI Continental Tour'. Professional Continental and Continental teams compete in the Continental Ciruits, namely the Europe Tour, Asia Tour, Africa Tour, Americas Tour and Oceania Tour. Whilst they are registered in one continent, they can compete in others, but they are strictly different competitions. Moreover, in the continental circuits, different types of teams compete. For example, in the recent GP de Fourmies (a 1.HC Europe Tour event), ProTour teams FDJ, CSC, Liquigas, Davitamon-Lotto, Credit Agricole and Bouygues, Pro Continental teams Landbouwkrediet-Colnago, Barloworld, Unibet and Kaiku and Continental teams Auber 93 and Groupe Sportif Bretagne-Jean Floc'h all took part. This article eldues to a tour that doesn't exist - and suggesting only Pro Continental Teams can take part in Pro Continental events (whatever they are). We would be better in expanding the Continental Circuits page (and each continental page) and outling what different types of teams there are and what they can take part in. Just some thoughts! - Yes, i think there is no different between the competitions they can participate, but at least, in UCI website, they make a distintion between Professional Continental Teams and Continental Teams.. Calapez
- A difference that should be noted and made, but suggesting there is such a thing as a UCI Professional Continental Tour is nonsense. Professional Continental teams participate in the Continental Circuits, along with Continental and national teams. This article confuses the status of teams and the competition. Title
[edit]How about List of Professional Continental and Continental road bicycle racing teams, maintaining it as a separate article (or main article) from the UCI Continental Circuits page? Mk3severo 20:26, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Title Redux
[edit]As one not familiar with the world of professional and pro-am bike teams, the title of this article was incredibly confusing to me until I got to the section on UCI Continental (i.e., not Professional) teams---I couldn't tell if it was a typo, vandalism, redundant, or simply confusing.... I'd suggest renaming the article entirely, perhaps per djharrity's suggestion above; at the very least, it should be hyphenated to List of UCI professional-continental and continental teams or turned around to List of UCI Continental and Professional Continental teams. - It's not an easy one. It shouldn't be hyphenated because Professional Continental and Continental are terms used by the UCI so are proper nouns in this sense. It would also seem strange to title the lesser importance teams before the more important teams. Maybe it could be split into two articles? SeveroTC 21:06, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Professional Continental Europe Tour for 2009
[edit]The information on the UCI websites is extremely confusing. [1] and [2] both show ISD, Vacansoleil, and Cervelo TestTeam as having been added, but they also show numerous teams as having been dropped, and those teams still advertise on their websites as being UCI Pro Continental teams. I added the three teams and commented out the old weblink; I probably should have just deleted it, but it does show that the several teams that aren't listed on the UCI's websites as being 2009 teams were for 2008.
I feel like I'm chasing my tail here... Don't fall asleep zzzzzz 09:46, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Heyyy...a little later into the year, and it all adds up now :) Don't fall asleep zzzzzz 10:29, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
De Rosa-Stac Plastic
[edit]De Rosa-Stac Plastic is the new name of the LPR cycling team. We should change the title of the LPR cycling team page into "De Rosa-Stac Plastic", but I don't know how to do it. LegendK (talk) 23:48, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- There was some discussion about whether they were a continuation of LPR or if they were a new team and it was noted that they were run by different companies at different addresses (albeit both in Dublin). As noted there, the rise of De Rosa-Stac Plastic may have been dependent upon the fall of LPR, but they would seem to be different teams. SeveroTC 07:35, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
Former years
[edit]In a new year all teams are replaced by the new teams and so a lot of work about the former teams is 'lost'. Is it not an idea to make, with the history date, the pages: 2012 List of UCI Professional Continental and Continental teams, 2011 List of UCI... 2010 List of... ?
