January promotions
[edit]I have dated promotions from the first appearance in a tournament at the rank, rather than the promotion announcement. This affects wrestlers who were promoted after the November tournament. So I have Kisenosato promoted in 2012 rather than 2011. It's a pretty fine point but I thought I'd mention it. Tigerboy1966 08:07, 27 August 2016 (UTC)
- That's how it's usually done. Thanks for all your hard work. FourTildes (talk) 08:25, 27 August 2016 (UTC)
Goeido
[edit]Looking at this list I think this might be the first time that an ozeki has retired immediately following two straight losing records. All the others have retired either not kadoban or before demotion was confirmed, or else they have competed following their demotion. I think Goeido should be listed as "retired" rather than "demoted" as he won't appear on the next banzuke as a sekiwake. What do others think?-- P-K3 (talk) 15:49, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
List update and choice of dates
[edit]I've just updated the ozeki list to include all articles by wrestlers who have reached this rank, based on this list. I've chosen to go back to 1814, since before that date most ozeki were "Kanban Ozeki", i.e. promotional wrestlers who reached this rank through pressure from their patrons and not through their prowess alone. - OtharLuin (talk) 11:06, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Stables at the time of the first promotion
[edit]I recently finished a pet project of including the stable at the time of promotion for the Yokozuna, would anyone be opposed to me doing the same for the Ozeki? WaimiriMaina (talk) 07:53, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- If there's no opposition to this idea, I will update the table at the end of the March 2024 tournament WaimiriMaina (talk) 07:35, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
