This article use the qualifiers «one dimension» and «two dimensional» to describe two types of link, I think that the writer is trying to carry out something about directionality and nothing about dimensionality. Thus the good qualifiers should be «unidirectional» and «bidirectional». There is nothing 2D with a edge in a graph.
