For anybody else wondering about the validity of "buttinski", a google search does give results for the term, mainly on Australian pages it would seem. 204.209.209.129 (talk) 18:04, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
can't use a commercial site as a reference
[edit]Eh? Why not? A commercial catalog seems an excellent confirmation that the merchandise exists. Jim.henderson (talk) 05:06, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Term Origins
[edit]Does anyone know where the term originated? Why is it called a Buttinski? Buttinski is in the dictionary, but the meaning doesn't relate to the object here. - 41 years at New York Telephone under its various names, and learned to use this term in my first month, which was June, 1969. Scuttlebut had it as arising from butting in, in the sense of intruding upon a conversation among other parties, uninvited. Alas, as often happens with technical slang, I am unaware of a source that would be counted as WP:RS. Jim.henderson (talk) 21:14, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
