If, as this suggests, this page is the primary topic for this title the disambiguation is unnecessary. This page's original location was simply Lincoln Park until the recent move. You can see this if you look at What Links Here for that page since the person who decided to move it didn't have the courtesy to go through and redirect all the links. Shsilver (talk) 20:11, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

On looking further at the page history, I think the original location of this page was Lincoln Park (park). It was moved to Lincoln Park (Chicago) in January 2006 (diff) by Darwinek. It was then moved to Lincoln Park in August 2009 (diff) by Skomorokh after Sligocki had moved the disambiguation page from that location to Lincoln Park (disambiguation) (diff). The latest move to the current location was only 11 days ago (diff) by Awolf58. —Jeremy (talk) 20:46, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

I sort of have a problem with the park being at the undabbed location. When I talk to people and they say they are from Lincoln Park, they are talking about Lincoln Park, Chicago. The kids across the hall from me in my condo go to school in Lincoln Park. The neighborhood is probably the more common referent for this word. I think the park belongs where it is. I think the neighborhood belongs where it is. The dab page should be the main page. I think the kids across the hall also sometimes say that they go to school at Lincoln Park (Lincoln Park High School (Chicago, Illinois)) and the parents say the kids go to school in Lincoln Park (the neighborhood).--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 03:44, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

I vote for either this article being named Lincoln Park or Lincoln Park redirecting to the neighborhood. I'm not a local, so I can't comment which is more appropriate, but having Lincoln Park redirect to Lincoln Park (Chicago park) is silly. Cheers, — sligocki (talk) 08:08, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

• Admin comment. I have restored the redirect from the main page to the dab page. Partially based on the discussion here and partially the past history. There are two issues raised for this move. One is, is there a primary topic? This has not been really aired since the focus in the discussion is on two Chicago uses. Given the other uses, nothing in the discussion so far appears to establish a primary use. The second question is what should the name for this article be? So far there is no consensus, but unless it can be shown that a primary use for Lincoln Park is established and that use is the Chicago park area, that is not a viable option for a rename for this article. • Oppose Lincoln Park (Chicago park) → Lincoln Park. I see no evidence of the park being the primary topic, and the "(Chicago park)" disambiguation remark seems perfect. Just "(park)" is ambiguous with other parks named Lincoln Park, and just "(Chicago)" is ambiguous with the community named Lincoln Park in Chicago.

  For that matter, Lincoln Park, Chicago is equally ambiguous with this park, and I would favor moving that article to Lincoln Park (Chicago community), but there should probably be a separate RM discussion for that. Okay, I went ahead and proposed that.

• I redirected the page back to Lincoln Park 'because of all the pages that link to Lincoln Park (and no one has addressed that issue). There are a ton of wiki articles linked to Lincoln Park the park in Chicago because that's where the page was for so long. If there is an easy way to create a bot that changes all those references, than it can be moved. Alternatively the editor wanting to make the change (Awolf58) should have the courtesy to go through all the articles and direct them properly. Alanscottwalker (talk) 03:19, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
  • Actually if you looked at the in bound links, you would see that they are not all for the park and then some are confusingly ambiguous as to the intent, and others are not for anything in Chicago. So redirecting to the park is simply wrong. Looking at those links also influenced my comment above and is another problem with the proposal. Finally to say that no one has addressed the problem is false since in fact I did spend some time getting a headache trying to fix the links. Since you apparently know something about this, maybe you could fix a few of the problem links. Vegaswikian (talk) 06:42, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
    • I did look at the links about 95% are to the park in Chicago. Even those outside Chicago, like Central Park and Golden Gate Park and North American Beaver are to the park in Chicago.Alanscottwalker (talk) 12:04, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
