Dear Madam, dear Sir, the entry on limp bindings is illustrated by a photo of a 15th century example. The subheading calls the book clasp 'broken'. Please allow me not to be so sure about that. I have a limp binding book in my library with nearly the same clasp (happy to send a photo once required). The book clasp consists of just two parts on the different sides of the vellum with no movable parts at all. The hook on the right hand side fits into the lock after bending the whole book.
