On 13 July 2022, it was proposed that this article be moved to Lin Xiaojun. The result of the discussion was not moved. |
Lim Hyo-jun Korean name
[edit]Shouldn't Lim's Korean name be changed to only show "임효준"? Since he was formerly South Korean, his family name would be "임," not "림." I also searched other South Korean people with the same family name (e.g. Nayeon from Twice), and they only had "임" as their Korean name. Arbaro95 (talk) 08:14, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
The title should have been Lin Xiaojun
[edit]Now Lin Xiaojun has become Chinese. We should change the title into the translation from Chinese. John Smith Ri (talk) 13:40, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
Requested move 13 July 2022
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: not moved. WP:COMMONNAME prevailed as argued by participants of the discussion. A new discussion can be opened if and when there more reliable sources using his official name in English (thus making it more common). Lim Hyo-jun → Lin Xiaojun – See below. Ymblanter (talk) 05:51, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- Note that my role is technical, this is not a support of the RM rationale Ymblanter (talk) 05:52, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
According to his official page in ISU database has already changed his name to the pinyin form, as "Lin Xiaojun" ([[1]]). I believe it is an official sign on the international stage. And thanks to Ymblanter who removed my edits wtice and warnt me, I am opening a discussion topic here. HTsien (talk) 02:26, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
I think WP:COMMONNAME should apply here, and unless there's evidence showing his new name is the prevalent usage in reliable English sources, the page title should remain. Big Wang (talk) 04:11, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per Big Wang. Google News has eight hits for "Lin Xiaojun" [2], and 100x as many for the current title [3]. The fact that his WP:OFFICIALNAME has changed is not relevant until WP:RS start following that usage. 61.239.39.90 (talk) 06:19, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
