Deserves own article?

YES--This song is one of the few true rock anthems. Its theme resonates with almost anyone whoever lived (esp. during the 60's and 70's). And that theme seems somehow mirrored in the music and the guitar ride. I'm from New Orleans but first heard the song after getting off an airplane from New York in August of 1977. My home town tells you I know about hurricanes. But I can relate to the entire song. Use your imagination.
PS--I also like way the organ slips in for "that special moment when time just slips away...."
I added some details here, but i am not sure it actually deserves it's own article. -- Beardo 03:07, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
It is a very famous song in Europe...
- For years it has been in Belgium's 100 best songs ever. See here.
- In the Netherlands, it is the most appreciated Young song (Search for "neil young" here, you'll see that every year it is around #100 of the best songs EVER.)
- For Germany, see this website.
- In England, it is highly appreciated, see here and search for "like a hurricane".
I see many Neil Young songs on Wikipedia having its own article, and I see few of them so appreciated in Europe... If the other songs deserve their own article, "like a hurricane" definitely deserves its own article. Pie.er 10:26, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. Let's get some of this information into the article. -- Beardo 12:16, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Unfortunately this is almost all I know of this song... Strange that Google knows so little of such a good song. I hope some Neil Young-fan with more information can enlarge the internet knowledge of this song... Pie.er 12:22, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
" The song was written in July 1975, when Neil Young was unable to sing due to an operation on his vocal cords after a cocaine-fueled night with friend and La Honda neighbor Taylor Phelps in the back of his car, a DeSoto Suburban. [1] " could this be broken into two or more sentences, I had to read it several times, to much information for one sentence. SkimmerX 05:56, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- The above statements were in the article, but have been removed, because apparently no article has critical praise like this. With this removed, the song does not seem notable anymore. I'm confused. --EdgeNavidad (talk) 12:32, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Roxy Music
[edit]Did they play it live a lot, or is it just a quirk that it's on two live albums of theirs ? -- Beardo 12:17, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Single or not
[edit]This has been added to the category 1977 singles yet the text says it was not released as a single. Can't be both. -- Beardo 01:02, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- See the link I added in the article: apparently it has been released as a single. --Pie.er 07:21, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Cover versions
[edit]Hey there, at first I excuse myself for my poor English. In the chapter cover versions is written that "Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings perform the song on their album of cover songs Jukebox released in 2008". I was curious how Randy Bachman would play this great song. I started to search for this album, I found it, but there wasn't hurricane on it. You can see it par example on allmusic.com, also on discogs.com, where you can find pictures of the title list. If you have better informations please let me know it. 88.73.10.59 (talk) 16:00, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
