Lybians and Lybian Americans in the Census and the surveys of the American community
[edit]The surveys of the 2000 census, among other things, were intended to know the origin of the Americans. Were 2,000-plus Americans who said they were of Libyan descent. Non-naturalized immigrants were excluded from these censuses, about their ethnic backgrounds. So, in the 2010 Census, for example, and talking about another ethnic group, were 7,000 people who claimed the Zimbabwean origin. But that meant that had 7,000 Zimbabwean in the U.S.? No, that only meant that 7,000 Americans had that origin. Zimbabweans in the U.S. were, according to estimates of the Association of Zimbabweans, when did analysis of the Zimbabwean population in the foreign, more than 45,000 people. These surveys indicate just how many Americans have those origins, do not tell us how many people in those origins living in the U.S.. In addition, many of the immigrants are illegal, and we do not know exactly their numbers. Those more than 9,000 people are estimated to have Libyan origin, they are estimated because they do not asserted it in the census. In the census, only affirmed the Americans with the Libyan descent. Immigrants are estimated (many of them live of illegal way in USA, as I already said).--Isinbill (talk) 19:39, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- The alleged facts that you know are irrelevant unless you can source them. We do not edit Wikipedia based on personal knowledge or original research. Where did you get the idea that the census or surveys conducted by the US Census Bureau are aimed only at American citizens? Source it, which you will not be able to do because some questions in the survey ask specifically whether the respondents have obtained American citizenship. Those questions would be pointless if only American citizens were surveyed. AfricaTanz (talk) 02:51, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'll make to you a question: why you believe that all Wikipedia articles dedicated to U.S. ethnic groups, the amount shown reflected in them are the amounts that were listed in the census. For example, in the article of the Italian-Americans, into the data box on the right of the article put: "Italo-Americans: Total Population: 17,250,211. And it turns out this is the number of people claiming Italian origin in the 2010 census . Nevertheless, the data box is called "Italian-Americans" ..... It is refers to the Italian-Americans. The which happens in this article and in the libyan Americans, occurs in all wikipedia articles on U.S. ethnic groups. These are articles that talk about Americans of those origins. Somewhere in the article may indicate the number of people from those origins living in the U.S., but that's not the key figure. The key figure are the dates that shown that template in the article, is the one with the data of people who said these origins in the American community surveys on ethnic origins, survey joins to census every 10 years. This census fundamentally are refer to descent but also naturalized. Therefore, the quantitative data from these surveys are used to determine the size of those American communities. In the article "Maps of American ancestries" for example, is considered to German ancestry (the article say "ancestry"), is the main ancestry of the Americans because there were more than 42 million people claiming German origin in the census of 2000. There also are many Chinese immigrants in the U.S., but the 3,794,673 people who reported Chinese origin in the census are considered the majority of the Asian American population. Those 3 million people (all they) are considered Asian- Americans. These surveys, those belonging to the census and that ask to the respondents his origins (two of their ancestries if they have more of one), are used to know the quantities of Americans of each origin in the United States, such and as is appreciative in the Maps of American ancestries. So, this data registred in the US Census with respect to the origins of the US population, are refered to the origins of the American population. The data box of Libyan American article, is called Libyan Americans, and in him this the figure de Libyan Americans according the 2000 Census, as happen in the others articles of Ethnic groups of United States, as you can see.--Isinbill (talk) 11:18, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- You're incorrectly assuming that the other Wikipedia articles you cited are correct. I have no idea what your argument is otherwise. It's too rambling to make sense out of. The point is that not everyone in the United States considers themselves to be Americans. Not all of them are naturalized United States citizens. The common thing is that they live in the United States. Nothing more. The data proves it. Stop edit warring. AfricaTanz (talk) 20:40, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
