Echec à la dame

[edit]

I've changed this and other translations of the French titles in Sébastien's album because I believe they were inaccurate. Echec à la Dame in particular was translated to "Failure to the Lady" which just doesn't make any sense. If you read the lyrics to this song you'll find clear references to a game of chess:

Notre amour qui tourne au tournoi (our love become a tournament)

Tes mots sont des petits soldats(your words are small soldiers)

Ivoire, ébène(Ivory, ebony)

In French, dame is how you refer to the queen in chess and echec is the equivalent to "check". I haven't translated to "Check to the Queen" though cause it sounds weird, it could be confussed with paying a check (bank) to a woman.

Please do not revert my edits to the French translations again without discussing it first here.Rosa 03:43, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Je t'en Veux

[edit]
Rosa, I've just changed the translation of Je T'en Veux to I want you. I think you put it as I Blame You before. Is my translation perhaps too direct, and hence wrong? (I am by no means a background speaker.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 211.30.95.235 (talk) 07:42, 10 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]
Hola :) I'm not too sure about "I want you" being a correct translation. The chorus of the song goes like this:
J't'en veux, de m'faire mal
J't'en veux de plus me mentir
J'm'en veux de t'en vouloir
Et de te laisser partir
Above all the "J'm'en veux de t'en vouloir"... I'm not an expert on the French language either so I guess I'll just wait a bit for someone to tell us for sure... :)Rosa 23:26, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've just spoken with a native French speaker, she said the following, "The translation is "I blame you" because "I want you" would be translated to "Je te veux".Rosa 20:34, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyrighted Images

[edit]

I'm contesting the claim of authorship by user Rellon to both pics of Sébastien Izambard...please see the discussion page of those two images: Image talk:Sebizambard.jpg and Image talk:Sebizambard2.jpg. Until this issue is resolved please do not add those two pictures to any articles and please discuss here.Rosa 04:19, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Deletion

[edit]

I oppose this article's deletion for two reasons:

1. It's not true this album isn't notable. It was on the French and Canadian charts when released. The artist, Sébastien Izambard, is a very popular singer now and many of his fans are interested in his work previous to Il Divo.

2. I agree Wikipedia isn't a lyrics database; I already deleted the lyrics added by a previous user. This article is about an album and it's purpose is not merely to show the lyrics of the songs.Rosa 03:05, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
