Work in progress

[edit]

Yes the article is notable- a paper was presented to Berlin 2012 Libre Office Conference, and there is an substantial ebook in Hungarian. There are issues on installation- but once working it appears to run legacy UCB Logo code. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ClemRutter (talkcontribs) 14:08, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

LibreOffice version

[edit]

The article says LibreLogo is included in "LibreOffice later than 4.2.3.3 (2014)". This seems excessively specific, and unhelpful to readers. Instead I suggest the article should recommend Libre Office 4.3, rounding up to the next significant version number. -- 109.79.37.18 (talk) 14:43, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Think the problem is that in my world I rum several Linux Distros, the later ones not running on the less powerful machines, and they wont include the latest Libre Office. The cheap machines can be used in charity projects- or I will have several in the car when I am doing an walk-in training day. Using Mint- you see immediately on the wallpaper the Distro number so can tell which ones will support which LibreLogo. (Life is too short to test what the current LL version is supported by what). Precision leads to confidence. Hence the precision. -- Clem Rutter (talk) 15:56, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is supposed to be an encyclopedia. Even mentioning more than the fact that LibreLogo is included in "the latest version" seems more than enough, but saying LibreOffice 4.3 is a litlte more specific without much risk of confusing ordinary readers. Even for exceptions like yours -- that I think are more appropriate to the project pages of minimal linux distributions, or the LibreLogo site themselves -- the article already explains you can install LibreLogo on to older versions of LibreOffice, so the main case and many exceptional cases are covered. More than enough for readers of an encyclopedia. -- 109.79.37.18 (talk) 16:36, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your POV with which I don't agree. Can I invite you to get more involved with Wikipedia- to sign on as a regular contributor and owner of a user name and a talk page. Come along to some meet-ups and talk in person to other editors- and fully understand the global importance of WP. You have far more current technical knowledge that I have-- and I am willing to lose a few skirmishes if it helps others to win the campaign. Please continue on my talk page - this discussion is a a little off focus here.
