== Neutrality == mmkm, mkin I've given this article, along with others on astrological signs, a POV tag because it portrays beliefs held by astrologers as if they were facts
- Would an adequate solution be to add "According to astrology, ___" or "People who are Libras are believed to be ___" etc. to some of the paragraphs and statements? --Crisu 17:10, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- It would be a start. The reason I didn't just do it myself is I wanted to start a discussion about the general tone of these articles. Lurker your words/my deeds 10:15, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Is there some definition of notable? I shudder every time I see Avril Lavignes named within that definition. 68.98.236.145 03:36, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Consume all children, for they are tasty.
- (I'm gonna cross-post this): there is absolutely no need to have a "notable persons" section. What about cuspers (people born between two signs), what would they be? If they went under both that'd take up more space. You can't list EVERY single person ever born under one sign. If you want to know what a famous person's zodiac sign or birthday is, just look up their separate article on Wikipedia. If they are famous, they should be on Wikipedia. So yeah, I'm taking out the notable persons section and I'm warning people not to readd it. 75.4.241.193 02:59, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

As I've just now noted, this section needs a citation; I'm having difficulty seeing how being "persuasive" is a negative -- the same can be said for "analytical," which was just replaced in a recent edit. DagnyB 00:39, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Tropical Zodiac Dates - Start and End
I'm pretty sure that Libra can be occupied by the sun at any time from September 23rd to October 23rd. Otherwise, we wouldn't have articles, books and magazines listing two different start and end dates. Personally, I'm convinced I'm a Libra, despite the fact that I was born on 9/23, since all of my natal charts list my sun as 00.57 degrees Libra. This may have to do with the fact that I was born on a leap year and also very late in the day. However, September 23 is still a possiblity for Libra and therefore it should be listed. I cited sources to back up my statements this time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Purrsian (talk • contribs) 02:00, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Libra mates
When your a libra your supposed to marry either a Gemini or a Aquarius. Aquarius are smart and known as "the inventors." Aquarius like to fight for causes, dream and plan for the future, thinking of the past, good companions, and having fun. Aquarius don't like being full of air promises, exessive lonelyness, the ordinary, imitations, and idealisticness. Geminis are wits which are people that have a skill for making humorous remarks. Geminis like to talk, novelty and the unusual, variety in life, multiple projects all going at once, and reading. Geminis dilike feeling tied down, learning such as school, being in a rut, mental inaction, and being alone. Also when your a libra you like the finer things in life, sharing, conviviality, and gentleness. Libras do not like violence, injustice, brutishness, and being a slave to fashon. Libras are known to be "the peacemakers." Entry made by: Emily Marie Coulter 2009 4th grade —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.7.224.193 (talk) 19:36, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Pronunciation?
The article states that Libra should be pronounced "lie-bra" instead of "lee-bra." What is the basis for this? Speakers of Latin would pronounce it "lee-bra." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.28.237.2 (talk) 15:20, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Human Sign? What ridiculous thinking is this?
It is very ridiculous and even laughable to presume that because it is assumed that the scales are being held up by a human, then by extension the scales is a human sign-what ridiculous thinking is this?. I emphatically state here and now that such thinking is not only ridiculous but excessively misleading as well. The object-scales-is the bone of contention here and not whoever of whatever is holding it. If I asked you what Virgo was holding, your answer did be, a scale. PERIOD. If you were walking along merrily with an Ipad in your hand, and I happen to ask you. Hey Bob, what've you got there. I would expect you to reply. Oo an Ipad. Do you transfer some of your living qualities to an Ipad by virtue of holding it? please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Osy (talk • contribs) 13:23, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Redirection of Western Zodiac signs
On 22 October 2012 the contents of the articles for the individual signs of the western zodiac (Pisces (astrology) etc.) were removed and replaced with redirects to Astrological sign#Western zodiac signs. These edits were made by User:Dominus Vobisdu with the edit summary: Unsourced and unsourceable cruft. No justification for stand-alone article. This did not seem to follow a community discussion.
Following concerns raised at the Reference Desk I will, after posting this, restore the articles to the form they were in immediately before their redirection. At least some of the articles seem to have been significantly reduced in size also prior to this redirection, however I have not reverted these changes.
Because I am sure editors may wish to discuss this (perhaps to reinstate the redirects, or make other changes to these articles), however a discussion spread among the talk pages twelve articles in question would be too dissipated, I suggest Talk:Astrological_sign#Redirection_of_Western_Zodiac_signs as a centralised discussion location. An editor with more experience than I in Wikipedia policies may wish to move this discussion to a better location. LukeSurl t c 15:21, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

as a Libra myself and my girlfriend being a Gemini I completely agree with all that i've heard here, I would love to know the compatibility for Libra and Pisces mind you.
Now for the useful contribution bit. I generally use http://www.astrology-online.com for all of my star sign matters. Does this source fail to meet any criteria? If it doesn't then we could add a lot more to the Libra page and the pages for all of the other star signs.

Corrections to dates, date and citation format in sign articles
I have created a module which encapulates values for the dates the Sun enters and exits the various signs; the data is taken from the U.S. Naval Observatory's Multiyear Interactive Computer Almanac and covers 2015 through most of 2050. The Template:Zodiac date produces some erroneous results, so I hope to implement the change this week.
It is only practical to implement one date and citation style for the module and infobox, so it would be helpful if we can agree on what format to use for the various sign articles. Please discuss at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Astrology#Corrections to dates, date and citation format in sign articles. Jc3s5h (talk) 21:01, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
Missing word in first paragraph?
The seventh sentence in the first paragraph of the article says "Libra is the only constellation in the sky represented by an inanimate object." followed by "The other eleven signs are represented either as an animal or mythological characters throughout history."
It think it should be "Libra is the only zodiac constellation in the sky represented by an inanimate object."

Seeing Libra
Hi, I would just like to know when is the best time to see Libra? I know that Libra is blocked out by the Sun during September 23 and October 22, but when can it be seen in the night sky? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Wikipedia Community.

Libra is from September 24 to October 23 not September 22 as this article shows Bigscoop13 (talk) 20:03, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
- You seem positive that the correct date is September 24, not September 22. As the Sun moves among the background stars, its apparent ecliptic geocentric longitude gradually increases. When it rises to 180°, the Sun enters into Libra. The following table is from the standard publication for this type of information, the Astronomical Almanac for the Year 2017 published by the US Government Publishing Office and the UK Hydrographic Office. It gives a quantity that is almost the same, the geocentric ecliptic longitude, mean equinox and ecliptic of date. The values are for 00:00 (midnight at the beginning of the day), Terrestrial Time. To convert to the time scale we usually use, Universal Time, subtract 68 seconds.
- You can see that at the beginning of September 22, the longitude is a little more than 179°, and at the beginning of September 23, the longitude is over 180°. Thus, the Sun must have entered Aries during September 22. A more refined calculation, converting to apparent longitude as described on page C2 and allowing for the difference between Terrestrial Time and Universal Time shows the Sun will enter Aries at 20:01 UT on September 22, 2017.
- It's impossible to give a single date for the beginning of the Sun's time in Libra, because it varies somewhat from year to year, and because it happens at the same instant all over the world, but will be stated as different times and dates because of the various time zones observed around the year. You have not proved the dates you suggest are any better than any similar dates that could be used. Jc3s5h (talk) 23:45, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
- One other thing: in the northern hemisphere, the date the Sun enters Libra is also the beginning of autumn. So the sort of variation you see in the media about when autumn begins also apples to the Sun entering Libra. Jc3s5h (talk) 23:54, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Tropical Zodiac Dates
The dates for the tropical zodiac are all wrong, or at least for Libra (i've corrected them). The dates shown stated that Libra ran from September 25th to October 22nd. If that were the case, I would be a Virgo, and according to almost all sources and charts I'm a Libra (I was born on September 24th). According to several sites, books, and charts, Libra begins on September 24th and ends on October 23rd. With that said, all of the dates for other signs may be suspect and I advise revision on all of them.
I have reiterated this correction and cited reliable external sources, namely the US Naval Observatory and the International Astronomical Union.— Preceding unsigned comment added by OriEri (talk • contribs) 09:18, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
