Shots/documentation wanted...?

[edit]

It seems that I will have regular access to the Liberty Belle. (Going for my second flight in about 12 hours.) Are there any shots/video/documentation that are desired? Instrumentation seems obvious, video of the takeoff/landing will be this foray's little project. But are there other requests? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dionisio(CMH) (talkcontribs) 04:03, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oops! The bot beat me to it. LOL! --Dionisio (Columbus, Ohio, USA) Talk 04:07, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is another Liberty Belle that was not mentioned on the site. It was part of the 457th Bomber Group flying out of the UK town of Glatton (aircraft number: 43-38301). It survived the war and returned to the US. One of its pilots, Capt William K. Dougherty, won the Distinguished Service Cross for heroism. Capt. Doherty was KIA while piloting another B-17.

What are they rebuilding Liberty Belle with?

[edit]

Hi. I was just wondering what is being used to completely rebuild Liberty Belle. A guy removed my section that said it was using the forward fuselage of another B-17. I'm pretty sure it is since Don Brooks has it in storage and I don't know what he would want with it if it's not for rebuild. I'm sure there are new parts involved in the rebuild, since many no longer exist, but I'm pretty sure the forward fuselage is also being involved. If I'm incorrect, can someone please tell me? Thanks!

From the postings over on Aerovintage, Liberty Belle is getting a new fuselage - the forward fuselage (Greeley) that they have in storage is going to be involved in another B-17 restoration.

hope this helps — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.8.44.202 (talk) 06:50, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
