This page should redirect to the Liberal National Party of Queensland, rather than a disambiguation page
- Not when there's been more than one Liberal National Party in history. Timrollpickering (talk) 00:19, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Redirect to LNP Queensland
[edit]This page should redirect to the Liberal National Party of Queensland. I think it's pretty clear based on a simple Google search alone that that's the primary topic. The UK party is only notable as a breakaway group from the larger Liberal Party, wasn't even known as the "Liberal National Party" for most of its history, and only ever gained a maximum of 35/615 MPs. Meanwhile, the Liberal National Party of Queensland is the second largest party in the state and lead government for 5 years. When people search for "Liberal National Party", they are most likely talking about the latter.
Pinging Timrollpickering because I half-doubt someone is gonna stumble across this talk page on their own lol. Loytra (talk) 11:29, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- The British party was "Liberal National" at its height of significance which was proportionally beyond its raw number of MPs (as shown by its first leader holding all the top jobs in government bar PM in the 1930s); the name change only came after the party had started a long decline which if anything was protracted by what was effectively a semi-merger with the Conservatives. It was the most significant "other" party in the UK of the 20th century.
- "Liberal National Party" or "LNP" is also often used as an alternative name for Australia's federal Coalition, not merely the Queensland joint party.
- A disambiguation page is preferable to hatnotes and redirects. Timrollpickering (talk) 12:35, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
