Infobox

[edit]

There is the barest skeleton of an infobox for LexCorp now. Anyone want to fill in the blanks? -mordicai. 20:40, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In a totally self-serving point (which I don't want to act on myself, but would like someone more appropriate to do so) the infobox correctly credits Elliot S Maggin (actually Elliot S! Maggin according to the byline) with creating Lexcorp in issue #416 os Superman - but that was in the February 1986 issue (released in November 1985). Also the text itself incorrectly cites John Byrne as the creator, which needs to be edited. Thanks - Elliot — Preceding unsigned comment added by ESMaggin (talkcontribs) 20:41, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge of LuthorCorp

[edit]

Another editor previously added this tag, and I'm uncertain. I agree that LuthorCorp does not show sufficient notability to be a standalone article according to WP:FICT. However, from what I see, the institution only exists in the Smallville (TV series). LexCorp on the other hand is present throughout the Superman universe. I suspect instead it might be severely reduced (due to issues of WP:PLOT) and merged into Smallville (TV series). -Verdatum (talk) 16:41, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. LuthorCorp and LexCorp are substantively different organizations, as the Smallville narrative now stands. If, at the end of Smallville, Lionel gets killed and Lex changes the name, then perhaps they might be seen two versions of the same entity. Alternately, if DC Comics shows Smallville to have occurred on one of its charted parallel Earths, then ya might have a case for saying they're different versions of the same thing, in much the same way that some super-hero articles give us alternate Earth versions of the characters. As it is, though, they're sufficiently different (one being a family business, and the other being particular to Lex, one having detailed interests in Smallville, one not) to maintain a distinction. I move that we revisit this issue a year or two from now when Smallville has ceased production. I'm not sure I see the particular issues with WP:FICT and WP:PLOT — it seems a legitimate "spinout" article to me — but am certainly willing to listen. The article certainly needs more referencing from critical sources, however. CzechOut | 10:00, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - oppose the merger to LexCorp, as it isn't LexCorp in the show. There has been no interview every saying it was really "LexCorp" either, or some version of LexCorp. I actually think the name needs to be redirected to the main article, and any real world information be placed in the "Filming" section of that article (if there is any to begin with). LuthorCorp itself isn't even a big deal in Smallville, it's the people running it (Lex and Lionel) that make it important. As for a "legitimate spinout", it isn't. First, this wasn't spunout of any particular article on Wikipedia, it was created separately from the start. Second, there isn't any real world information in the article, meaning it lacks any encyclopedic value at the moment. This isn't a "lets come back in a year or two" issue either, because the corporation has been at least present in the show for 7 years now, and if there isn't anything written about it by now there probably isn't going to be anything written about it later. It isn't even mentioned in the respective Smallville companion books beyond telling the reader where they found the building in Canada. That certainly isn't enough to justify the spinout. If someone wants to know exactly what LuthorCorp is, and does, in the show, they should watch the show. Wikipedia isn't a substitute for watching a television show.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 18:19, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If there are no current objections, I'm going to redirect LuthorCorp to the main Smallville article, as it's pretty much mirrored on the Smallville Wiki with regard to all the IU information. There's nothing else that is sourced real world information.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:59, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

VWbot noted the similarity of wording between text in this article and text at this Wikia site. However: that site is licensed CC-BY-SA, so if the Wikipedia article text was copied from the Wikia site, it isn't a licensing violation. Some of the text is in the Wikipedia site in 2008, which predates the earliest available Wayback version in late 2008. This is, of course, not definitive, but it does suggest that the Wikipedia text may have predated the Wikia text.

Even if licensed properly, it is required that the source be cited if it is copypaste.

Even if not a copypaste, the material is poorly referenced, and may be OR. Should be better referenced, but I am concentrating on the copyright issues,a ad those look to be a non-issue.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 02:05, 27 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Website

[edit]

Dear Author,

Please add website to the article. "https://www.lexcorp.io/" this is presented by Warner Bros./DC Comics as a part of DCEU. LateThomasWayne (talk) 15:25, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
