Ultimate Rank
[edit]I have corrected this from Brigadier-General to Brigadier. The rank "Brigadier-General" ceased to be conferred in 1922. After an interval when it was replaced by "Colonel-Commandant", it has been plainly styled Brigadier since 1928. It is therefore correct usage for Evans as his highest rank was reached during World War II.Cloptonson (talk) 20:34, 6 September 2012 (UTC) I have since discovered he held the rank of Temporary Brigadier-General in command of an infantry brigade in 1918 at end of World War I, according to online article (cited in the article page). It remains to be ascertained whether the rank became permanent before 1922 or he reverted to substantive rank of full Colonel after end of hostilities. He is called Brigadier General on the memorial erected to him in Llanbadarn in 1981 - although the cited article about it and him is headed "Brigadier Lewis Pugh Evans".213.122.140.252 (talk) 21:21, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
