Relevance of info in "plot" section
[edit]I might be an untrained eye, but it seems to me that a lot of the info in the "plot" section of this page is irrelevant, and should go on other pages. Like the talk about the history of the Melbourne aware and Westerfeld's other books. Shouldn't that go on Westerfeld's and the Melbourne Awards' pages, respectively?
edit: I decided to fix this myself. An earlier edit had apparently replaced an existing plot section with random information, I returned the plot section to the previous version. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.126.215.247 (talk) 05:20, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Steampunk?
[edit]Is this really steampunk? It's definitely historical fiction, but I don't remember any fictional uses of steam in the book. The German's machines aren't steam-driven, at any rate. -I think it is. The stormwalker's engines create steam, which drives the engines. Also, in the seciond book, there is a walker called a "Djinn" that has STEAM cannons. it shoots steam out to discuise where it is. In summary, I believe taht this book should be classified as steampunk. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.250.137.78 (talk) 18:06, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
If you read the author's note in the back of the book, Westerfeld specifically states it is a steampunk novel. AtTwilight (talk) 02:24, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
Same title, other novel
[edit]"Leviathan" is also the name of a novel by Paul Auster that was published in 1993. Therefore, the title of this article should be changed to Leviathan (2007 novel). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Enthroned (talk • contribs) 15:08, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
There are a lot of things called Leviation.119.12.211.82 (talk) 03:52, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
This is innaccurate.
[edit]While this book sounds cool and it would be sick if it is written, this article seems to be inaccurate in that it is clearly after september 2007 and this book still has not been written yet. I hope it is a real book that westerfeld's currently writing, though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.31.1.234 (talk) 00:06, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
This pisses me off
[edit]Scott Westerfeld states in an interview that "I'll get back to The Risen Empire series as soon as I finish the Uglies and Midnighters Trilogies.". How fortunate that he starts yet another trilogy .... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.214.145.204 (talk) 02:45, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
This Article Needs More Information
[edit]This book has been out long enough for at least someone to have analyzed it. Since it's out, this article could use more information about the book, such as characters, locations, and a general plot summary. 170.211.121.189 (talk) 18:46, 13 November 2009 (UTC) PS. This is a school IP.
Oh come on!. The 'The Risen Empire' doesn't have nearly as much information, and it was out for 6 years when you made this section of the discussion page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.77.208.218 (talk) 07:20, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
Thylacine behavior
[edit]Tassa is described several times as "bouncing happily on its hind legs". I am not positive, but this does not quite seem like something a thylacine would be able to do. Could someone with more knowledge confirm this and add it to the page, if true? Thanks! Goldenrod111 (talk) 00:43, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Is This Really A Stub?
[edit]It seems like a full-length article to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.250.137.78 (talk) 18:01, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
It is, because it's not a very good article. Lissakw (talk) 19:26, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
Article Expansion and Improvement
[edit]I've gone through and edited a lot, taking out a lot of unnecessary info and shortening the plot as requested on the page. Reviews of the book would be handy to add, and I'll try to get to it soon. I've taken it out of the stub category, but left it in at a low category because of this lack of sources. I think further info about the various types of Crank and Darwin creatures/machines might be a helpful addition as well, on this page or another. Atherton53 (talk) 19:27, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

- Hello @Atherton53: Do you think this page should be extended to include more information? This would be my first article I edit; it is for a college class and the top of the article says there is too much information already. Should this just be a summary of the book, or do Wikipedia articles about books generally go into extreme details? The page can definitely be shortened but I'm not sure if the opposite should happen. I would appreciate any insight as a new Wikipedian. --Dreadnaught127 (talk)

Who is Volger??
[edit]In the article a "Volger"is mentioned - "The crew fights back and defeats the planes, but crash-land in Switzerland on a glacier where Aleksandar and Volger witness the crash from their refuge. Volger insists they do nothing to interfere, as they will risk giving away their position to the Germans or being captured by the British"- yet who Volger is is never mentioned. 14.200.192.253 (talk) 14:16, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
