Disambiguation section at the top
[edit]Shouldn't this have a disambiguation section at the top? Letterkenny is a county town in Ireland as well as referring to a number of other places with the same name — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.255.30.161 (talk) 20:24, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
- You're referring to a hatnote, and I don't think it's necessary, because this article includes "(TV series)" in its title. Letterkenny points to the town. PKT(alk) 17:26, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- There's no need to backhat from an already-disambiguated title to some other one. The "(TV series)" disambiguator here means that nobody is ever going to accidentally get here while looking for one of the towns, so there's no need to help redirect anyone back to them. Hatnotes only need to go forward from a dab page or primary topic to the "lesser" topics — they do not need go backward from an already disambiguated title to the general topic. Time to split the list?
[edit]Since there's nearly 50 episodes now. is it time to split the list of episodes?Blue Pumpkin Pie (talk) 16:13, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- I'd say so, most TV series articles get split off once they reach two seasons (44 for most western shows like Flash and Arrow), so I feel like 47 episodes, especially in so many different tables should be split off. The only issue I can see is that the episode descriptions themselves are very small and so might not completely be tranferable to a full two seasons of something like The Flash where the episode plots are closer to the 250 word cap for plots--Ditto51 (My Talk Page) 19:49, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- 50 episodes is usually about the time to split. That said, these episode summaries are sparse (I'm worried about WP:COPYVIOs, though I haven't checked...), so the prose doesn't represent a whole lot. On that basis, you could still argue against a split. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 19:51, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- Either decision is fine. I'd argue the length (not kB size!) of the LoE overshadows the main article, and I'd spin it out to give the main article more space to breathe and to not overwhelm the reader. YMMV. – sgeureka t•c 10:47, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
- @IJBall: When comparing the episode descriptions here on Wiki with Crave's episode list (Canada) and Hulu's episode list (United States) the summaries are defiantly duplicates so it seems we may have a WP:COPYVIO situation. In regards to the proposed split I agree with sgeureka's rationale. Alucard 16❯❯❯ chat? 12:02, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
- If the episode summaries need to be removed (on the WP:COPYVIO basis), then I'd say the rationale for splitting goes away... --IJBall (contribs • talk) 13:14, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
- Even without the summaries, there is still 13 sections for just the episode list.Blue Pumpkin Pie (talk) 14:59, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
- For me I think the article would be easier to navigate for readers in general if the list was split off into its own LoE. Even without the episode summaries it would still be a big block of a list in the middle of the article. Alucard 16❯❯❯ chat? 17:42, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
- Does anyone still object for a separate list? Since there is now over 50 episodes?Blue Pumpkin Pie Chat Contribs 22:04, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Blue Pumpkin Pie: Before any split is considered the episode summaries need to be fixed as there is an obvious copyvio problem as the summaries are directly taken from Crave. A short term easy fix would be to strip the episodes of all its summaries however at that point it wouldn't make much sense to split the list off of its parent article. In all honestly we have individual seasons of reality TV shows that are producing 30–40 episodes on average, using episode summaries that don't trigger a copyvio situation and are pushing the recommended limit of a plot summary (right at 200 words) that would justify a split more than this article. For Letterkenny I don't recommend a split until the copyvio situation is cleared up so that the LoE do not inherit this issue. Alucard 16❯❯❯ chat? 17:52, 17 December 2019 (UTC)
