Racism
[edit]The article says that Taylor "expresses racism" in the books. This should be changed so that it says what it means to say. Could someone who is more familiar with the books correct this. I have only read one of them. Thanks. JBFrenchhorn (talk) 05:57, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Where does it say "expresses racism" at? --I*S*T 01:36, 29 January 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thriller95 (talk • contribs)
Lost sentence?
[edit]"When Stuart approaches her he genuinely respects her, assuming she is white. This takes a great toll on Stacey; he believes he must take care of his family before they lose their land." This looks like a sentence or two have gone missing in between. I don't remember these details of the story, but when I get to re-reading the book I hope to clean this up -- unless someone else has done it till then. Or is it even a good idea to try and correct details like this? Do we really want to retell every little thing in the book? Maybe it would be a lot better to trim the plot down. (Of course, the other books in the series should have a similar treatment). Is there a consensus how to do books on wikipedia? --87.157.88.151 (talk) 15:38, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Poll
[edit]Does anybody know what a "poll" is in the sentence, "While Stacey was at the cane field a poll rolled over his foot and broke it"? At present it's linked to a disambiguation page and I can't find any kind of a field tool called a poll. I'm wondering if the wrong word was used. Thank you. - I haven't read the book in years. From the context, it sounds like Stacey got his foot broke by a pole. I remember blacks trying to vote at the "polls" in the book, and being hindered. Maybe someone confused poles with polls. 47.137.178.203 (talk) 07:44, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
