Running
[edit]I have removed the "running" section and am copying it to here. This is because I don't see how it's notable...a lot of people tkae up running and do road racing, etc., and a lot of people run those kinds of times. Don't get me wrong, his times are good, but not good enough to be notable....a 57-minute 10 mile or a 2:44 marathon is good enough to win a lot of rinky-dink local races and maybe even some more medium-sized ones, but it's far from being world-class. —Politizer talk/contribs 18:45, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
- West took up running after taking his daughter, Joanne, to a local running track and finding he had to wait two hours before he could bring her home. He joined in next time in plimsolls and ordinary trousers. Four weeks later he could keep up with the others. [1] His first race was over 10 miles, covered in a little less than 57 minutes. He ran 2h 44m in his first marathon, running a hilly course in rain.
“ | My feet were so badly blistered it was unbelievable. I had grey shoes on and they were red at the finish. My feet were pouring with blood. And I went to work afterwards[2]. I don't think I could ever have made a runner because I'd be that frustrated because you're injured all the time. It's not a sport I'd recommend anyone. Give me cycling any day. At least you can freewheel.[3] | ” |
