Proposed merge with Cheshire Home
[edit]There doesn't at present seem to be enough content at Cheshire home to justify a separate page. Merging that content here would benefit this page also. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:26, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

2018 rebranding
[edit]As of April 2018 the charity has rebranded as Leonard Cheshire, undoing the 2007 branding which added Disability. See refs in History section and new website https://www.leonardcheshire.org/
How to rename this article?
1. Keep Leonard Cheshire as the person and move article to 'Leonard Cheshire (charity)'
or
2. Move person to 'Leonard Cheshire (RAF officer)' and use 'Leonard Chesire' for the charity

Requested move 5 May 2018
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: not moved at this time, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 18:39, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
- Leonard Cheshire → Leonard Cheshire (RAF officer)
- Leonard Cheshire Disability → Leonard Cheshire – The charity reverted its branding to be simply the name of its founder, Leonard Cheshire, but that article name is in use as a redirect to Leonard Cheshire (RAF officer). Wire723 (talk) 13:53, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). –Ammarpad (talk) 15:09, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
- Comment –It wasn't redirect until when you moved it today. –Ammarpad (talk) 15:13, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. The current title appears to be both common and correct – not even the charity itself calls itself by the new "brand" name: "Leonard Cheshire Disability is a company limited by guarantee, registered in England no: 552847, and a registered charity no: 218186 (England & Wales) and no: SC005117 (Scotland)". Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:19, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
- True, the legal company name is the one thing that hasn't changed. Their website, which is now www.leonardcheshire.org, carries the new branding which they presumably want the public to use. Wire723 (talk) 19:39, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose Per WP:COMMONNAME. Wikipedia doesn't go by a company's current branding, as it is not their advertising agency, but what the company is commonly called by reliable sources.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 21:20, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. The man is the primary topic here. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:27, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
