Talk:Leon Festinger
Leon Festinger was nominated as a Social sciences and society good article, but it did not meet the good article criteria at the time (January 12, 2013). There are suggestions on the review page for improving the article. If you can improve it, please do; it may then be renominated. |

Fair use rationale for Image:Festinger.jpg
[edit]Image:Festinger.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Festinger's later work
[edit]It may surprise people to know that in his later career Festinger left social psychology behind, and studied eye movements (in fact, this was listed as his special interest in the manual of psychologists in the American Psychological Association. This should be put in the article.ACEOREVIVED (talk) 19:43, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
I've completed a significant revision to the article, and this information has been included. You may also be interested to know that Festinger later left perception behind as well, and turned to archaeology and history. Ckhchu (talk) 20:15, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

I'll be glad to take this review. I'll begin with a close readthrough of the text in the next few days, noting any initial issues on this review page, and then will start the criteria checklist. Thanks in advance for your work on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 22:02, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Initial readthrough
[edit]On first glance, this looks like good work, but needs some attention for neutrality and clearer sourcing.
- "under Kurt Lewin, an important figure in modern social psychology," -- suggest cutting or revising this as peacocking per WP:PEA
- "currently a professor" -- revise with an "as of [date]" per WP:REALTIME
- "Indeed, Stanley Schachter," -- suggest cutting "indeed", which adds unneeded editorial emphasis
- " Festinger’s seminal 1950 paper" -- "seminal" appears to be an unsourced peacocking term; if Festinger himself is the source for "seminal", consider clearly attributing, finding an independent source, or cutting.
- "his highly influential paper" -- "highly influential" appears to be unsourced peacocking; cut or source per above
- "arguably his most famous and influential contribution" -- again sourced only to Festinger
- "Some also view this as an extension" -- is it possible to give a name or names here instead of "some"? What's the original language of the source?
I'm going to take a break here before going further to make sure this review is "live". Once you've had a chance to respond to the above, I'll be glad to continue. Thanks for your expansion to this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 13:09, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
- Since it's been a week without these points being addressed, I'm closing this review for inactivity, and recommending not listing this article at this time. If anyone would like to address some or all of the above, however, and renominate, please go for it! Cheers, -- Khazar2 (talk) 12:24, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
