Merger proposal
[edit]I oppose the merger, as the Priory isn't the same as the Abbey. Leominster Priory was a male house, founded about 666 according to Knowles, et. al. Heads of Religious Houses p. 93. It was refounded around 1139 as a dependent priory of Reading. It may have incorprated parts of the lands of the nunery, but that's not given in the sources nor is that enough to merge. - I think the nunnery may have been a refoundation of the seventh-century male house, but the location of the pre-Conquest monastic site(s) at Leominster is rather obscure.
- I agree there is a case for separate articles, as the continuity between the Anglo-Saxon and 12th-century institutions is blurred. -Alan (talk) 17:41, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
