GA Sweeps: On hold
[edit]As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing Sweeps to determine if the article should remain a Good article. I believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a GA. However, in reviewing the article, I have found there are several issues that needs to be addressed.
- The images need alt text. See WP:ALT for instructions.
- There are a few dead links that should be fixed. The Internet Archive might be able to help. There are also a few dabs.
- Throughout the article (including the lead) there are several single-sentence/brief paragraphs. Either expand on these or incorporate them into another paragraph.
- "Ryan's stated position was that a "settlement deep in the bush might be reasonably run on authoritarian lines"." A citation should directly follow this quote.
- "...the capital of Guyana located 150 miles away from Jonestown..." Add the metric conversion as well. Fix any other occurrences throughout the article.
- "Finally, on November 17, Ryan aide Jackie Speier (today a Congresswoman), the United States embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Richard Dwyer, a Guyanese Ministry of Information officer, nine journalists, and four concerned relative representatives..." "Finally" should be removed and "Concerned Relatives" should be capitalized.
- "They discovered 909 of its inhabitants dead." Could it be clarified how they died?
- The "Leo J. Ryan Award" section could use additional sourcing.
I will leave the article on hold for seven days, but if progress is being made and an extension is needed, one may be given. If no progress is made, the article may be delisted, which can then later be renominated at WP:GAN. I'll contact all of the main contributors and related WikiProjects so the workload can be shared. Once the above issues are addressed, I'll help do a final copyedit of the article. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! - I just notice this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject California/San Francisco Bay Area task force. I think I can save this from delisting since this article looks decent and seems to have a small number of issues. I will try to deal with the above later.—Chris!c/t 21:57, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the re-review, Nehrams2020 (talk · contribs). I will do some work on the above points. Should be relatively easy. Cheers, Cirt (talk) 23:17, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- Note: I have addressed everything from above, except for alt text. I have asked Chrishomingtang (talk · contribs) if he would like to help out with that last remaining point. :) Cirt (talk) 00:11, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
- Note that alt text is not a GA requirement. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:44, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
- I did it anyway. Though I do not know how to add alt text for the location map template.—Chris!c/t 00:36, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

GA Sweeps: Kept
[edit]Good work addressing the issues, sorry for the delay in getting back to the review. I went through and made some minor changes, please review my edits. About the alt text, the description page states that all images should have alt text, so even if the GA requirements do not list it, it is beneficial for readers, as well as if the article ever intends to go to FA. I believe the article currently meets the criteria and should remain listed as a Good Article. Continue to improve the article making sure all new information is properly sourced and neutral. It would be beneficial to update the access dates for the online sources. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I have updated the article history to reflect this review. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talk • contrib) 04:33, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
